This off-season I remain hopeful but not optimistic regarding 2025-2026 roster/team.

247 finally puts Andrej in its rankings, at an absolutely ludicrous #34.

No way on earth would I rather have Cedric Coward or Rodney Rice.

He should be in the Josh Dix/Ryan Conwell area.

In theory it's easier to do portal rankings since you have some good data to work with, but they make some weird decisions.

I wonder if Tonje's explosion after an injury riddled failure to launch at his first major conference school is the reason Coward is getting so much hype. Similar profile.
They're not even doing this right. If you give 2 players the same exact grade, they're tied. So really Stojakovic is in a 12-way tie for 23rd.

It seems like they're just tacking on the latest guy with a given grade to the end of the mass of players with the same grade. The only reason Stojakovic is behind Coward or Rice or Rez (all with the same 96 grade) is that he entered the portal later than them.

moving from California to Champaign Illinois would be a brutal change weather wise, luckily the weather won't be bad like it was for Jawun Evans or Elijah Thomas.

If Illinois does not get a commitment real soon from Andre Stojakovic, I think that the Illini should pivot quickly to getting the following 4 young transfers (if they would still be available): Sophomore PG Terrance Ford Jr (Arkansas State), Sophomore CG Nick Dorn (Elon), Sophomore SG/SF Kennard Davis Jr (Sothern Illinois), and Freshman PF Josh Harris (North Florida).

I think that Ford would be the perfect backup PG. And that Dorn and K Davis could possibly start at the 2 and 3 positions. And I think that Harris could compete with Mirkovic for minutes at the PF position. (Use Ben's money to pay for Josh Harris.)

This probably sounds like crazy talk to many of you, but I think that Illinois needs to be thinking about what it will do if they miss out on ALL of Dix, Sarr, Coward, Watkins, and Stojakovic. And make a pivot BEFORE most viable plan B or plan C players are no longer available. Of course, I'm really hoping that the Illini can secure a commitment from transfer Andrej Stojakovic! 🤞 And then figure out what other transfers to add to the roster.

Getting a visit is progress 😁

I'll still be surprised if he leaves the West if offers are remotely close. But hey at least a campus visit is happening. As alluded above, if there's not a commitment announced shortly after/still taking subsequent visits, odds are slim

Good basketball family, I have a bit better faith that we'll be able to land him since I'm sure his dad would advise him this situation is the best for advancing his career prospects. Don't even think we have to outbid anyone.
