I'm sure Kentucky has a deep bag, but beyond Quaintance - who I'm sure was $3-4M their other 4 transfers in were not the highest ticket guys maybe, Aberdeen got $1.8M+. Purdue supposedly spent over $12M just to retain their current roster and pulled in some high priced guys so, not sure if Goodman is just exaggerating for affect at how much they can spend, but I doubt they have the current highest payroll
I think his point is that they are not done big game hunting.Yep.. I also wonder what about Kentucky's roster would lead Goodman to make a comment like this. Other than overpaying for Aberdeen?
If I were to make a comment like this about a program, it'd likely be the one that sits roughly 75 miles West of Lexington.
Purdue spending 12 million just in retention seems way to high.I'm sure Kentucky has a deep bag, but beyond Quaintance - who I'm sure was $3-4M their other 4 transfers in were not the highest ticket guys maybe, Aberdeen got $1.8M+. Fair point. 3 million seems to be the going rate for really good starting level players in the market so you need to swallow hard and be willing to go to that level. So what exactly is "done" in this world?
Seems you can walk away from anything anyone anytime anywhere.

I can't see this name now without pronouncing it 'I am a leava"!
I live in Knoxville and the talk show guys pronounce it E - ama - le - ava.I can't see this name now without pronouncing it 'I am a leava"!
UConn is getting involved because they are waiting on an Alex Karaban NBA decision...which won't be for a month. If he goes back to school, their involvement goes away. That's the caveat. Meanwhile, we're trying to get him to commit before he leaves town. How is the going to work?I believe the OP is merely mentioning another name of someone interested. It isn’t a caveat; just a piece of info.
Purdue's coaching staff and donor community have a mutual conclusion that the continuity and understanding with system and teammates that makes them special and gives them an edge is not for sale in the portal at any price. Which is correct.Purdue spending 12 million just in retention seems way to high.
Maybe if they shoot really bad in practice, they will be an elite 3 point shooting team when it matters. This team will struggle shooting the three again! They need a really good three point shooting guard and I just don’t see it on the roster.
4 weeks ago it was extreme.Aberdeen with a $2 million asking price with a career average of 5ppg and is a 40% shooting guard, but Morez asking for $2 million was considered extreme 3-4 weeks ago.
If you have a core of players that fit your system and with each other, you do anything to keep it. Hopefully they also know the value that it contributes to their skill development.Purdue's coaching staff and donor community have a mutual conclusion that the continuity and understanding with system and teammates that makes them special and gives them an edge is not for sale in the portal at any price. I am certain the money for Smith and TKR, but also Loyer, Cox, everybody, reflects that. That they are worth more to Purdue than anyone else is an accurate reflection of reality.
I've seen their temples. They've got a lot of cash to throw around.I’m not sure most people really knew the impressive size of BYU’s war chest, tbf
I might not know ball but I kinda feel like he shows flashes of present-day Kristaps PorzingisThey are going to add another guard along with hopefully Andrej, maybe two. I still think Tomi will average 18ish ppg next year, mentioned it last week but people are going to be shocked at how good the guy is going to be.
I don’t see it too far fetch for a player who played 4 years trying to get back to college or someone who enters the draft and doesn’t make it
Some of the comments suggest he’s uh… not the best teammate. But the pipeline would benefit greatly! No clue if we are talking to him. IANAIMingo-vic. plus, restores our Canadian pipeline
Canadia is pretty close to Croatia, amirite?
Do you think in any cases they actually bring the cash to meetings?Hopefully the Brinks truck has backed up, as promised. If Stojakovic is truly our top priority, then pay him. I agree....no excuses at this point.
