Very happy that we no longer have to bend the knee to the CPL influencers just to get the 2nd rate talent while the the top rated kids go to KU, UK etc....
Most of them are likely to see their influence wane anyway in the portal/NIL era, if I had to guess. Not gone completely, but reduced.

So my biggest concern is, how do we stop and who do we have that can stop Big Ten teams interior game like Maryland who just ate us alive I don’t see anybody that can stop interior bigs. I applaud what we have accomplished. I still think we needed a banger and we didn’t get one.
Working with Fletch, maybe the Ivisics will be TWO "bangers" for the Illini next season?

The B1G has teams east of the Appalachians now, friend.
Well, of course. We will likely have Maryland here next season, which will be a welcome opportunity to experience Terp fan abuse, and we've done the RAC. Otherwise, the tasty grinders will be in East Lansing, WL, Bloomington, Columbus, and C-U (Madison is too far for me to schlep IMO). Did Michigan this past March; no need to revisit it given the savory outcome.

I've thought of seeing a game at PSU, but only if it's in Rec Hall. As we learned last time, they don' take to lettin' furriners into that building. Few venues match the utter soullessness of Bryce-Jordan; I have no interest in seeing a game there.

I know that complete team makeovers after each season can be hard to follow and even painful for some. I really enjoyed watching the TSJ teams, but I also loved watching last' year's team even though they were completely different teams and styles. And I'm really excited to watch next year's team even though it will be lots of new faces and perhaps even another change in style of play.
Take a fully healthy Tomi, the Kylan that showed up the last few weeks of the season, add the Euro newcomers and welcome back Rodgers...that could be a very dangerous mix of height, skills and toughness. I'm in the camp of those expecting Ty to be an important piece of a team that will contend in the B1G and on the national scene.

It sounded like Andre was worried about family. Any chance Peja could be an assistant coach? I am sure all the international guys would love that. I am sure he has some good experience he could share.
might help our 3pt shooting....

I'll begin with this...

My eyes are squarely on how good Petrovich is and I think he may be the most intriguing player we have on the roster. If he is really good (and I think he might be) then I think we can be as good as we want to be. My only real concern is size...dude is tiny. But he is super fast, super quick and I can't wait to see him with this core.

A few other thoughts...
- Ty being back becomes bigger and bigger the farther we get on the off-season
- Brandon Lee is better then you think he is...kid is good and I don't think he has a big role, but I think he can really score it
- On the other side, Wagler will need at LEAST a year before he's ready
- It looks like they are really gonna go with the Twins playing together alot...which makes me feel, optimistic and uneasy.
- The defense is gonna be...something to watch.

I'm watching the shooting percentages for Andrej...I think he can shoot and if that comes together this year...he'll be on the NBA radar

I really don't like Bench HumBrickHouse. Am I the only one who is concerned that he will play 20 min per game and shoot like 33% 3pt?
Obviously anything is possible.

Ben was 38.2% 3FG off bench (would rank in top 20 amongst NCAA teams)

Ben was 33.3% 3FG as starter (would rank ~220th of 364 D1 teams)

He was a liability as a starter on both ends. Unacceptable 33% as "3 pt shooting specialist" and a turnstile on D.

I'm fine with him as a limited minutes bench guy. If they get Filip Jokic/another 4, I doubt Ben comes off the bench much at all.

Not sure what his role is yet, but Ty fits so well with this roster.
Every championship level team has a Ty Rodgers type player doing all of the dirty work and getting none of the headlines: grabbing rebounds for extra possessions, playing tough defense at a variety of positions and leading by example while helping teammates manage their relationship with the coaching staff. At a certain level, he reminds me of Dennis Rodman: can't shoot a lick yet his team probably doesn't win championships without him. I did not expect him to stay but now that he has just try keeping him off the floor no matter who we bring in. Thrilled to have him back!

Don't hold your breath here. These guys are coming here to play in an NBA offense to get to the league quicker. The green light will be afforded to just about everyone, so settle in and prepare for launch.
And that’s fine as long as they come in the flow of the offense. Move the ball from one side of the court to the other, get an inside touch to Tomi/repost, etc., and if an open look from the arc presents itself, cool.

Too often last year we didn’t run the offense. JMHO.

My concern is Brad likes him and clearly has a tendency to go to what he feels comfortable even when the results aren't there. Brad does a lot of things really well... Clock management isn't at the top of that list in my opinion.

If humbuckethous (going with this now that he's back officially and wish the best) is in the role he was at the end of the year then that's great. If he is anywhere near the starting lineup.... Then I am concerned
