3rd base has been an utter disaster. Putting all of their eggs in the Shaw basket was silly. They got Turner to hedge their bets and he doesn't play. Between Berti, Brujan and Lopez, not one of them is worthy of starting at the position. We can't discuss the Workman experiment because he's gone.
They have a couple of guys playing WAY above what the back of their baseball card says they should be doing, most notably Kelly. He's helped to offset that situation, but it's only reasonable for him to regress to the mean..

Like all youngsters, has to stay away from walks. He had 10 walks in his first 3 starts this year (12.1 IP) and only 3 in his last 3 starts (16.2). Probably won’t go deep into game, but hopefully they are effective innings while he is in there.

started watching baseball at age 7 or 8, and whete we lived , WGN came in crystal clear and watching the Sox on Ch 32 or 44 on UHF was like watching a snowstorm .
the cubs were great in 1969 and my dad , for whatever reason , also liked the Cubs
my fandom was indeed “rare” on the south side
this new pope may have a similar story as he lived not far from Roseland and went to Mendel for a couple years . before it was Mendel, it was Pullman Tech and my mom went there for free as her dad had worked for Pullman. it was a great school . top notch school .

Why don’t the Cubs try to make a trade with the Red Sox for Rafael Devers. He’s not happy in Boston since they signed Bregman. He plays 3rd which the Cubs need help at.
^This. The confusion seems to be that the mother of the new Pope was a Cubs fan who grew up on the northside. His dad grew up a Cardinals fan.

Likely because other than the fact that the Cubs need a 3B, they don’t make sense as trade partners. Red Sox are trying to fill a hole at 1B not create another one at DH. And they like the Cubs are trying to win now, so wouldn’t be interested in prospects as key component of trade. Starting point would be Busch and Suzuki, and that wouldn’t be enough.

Yeah, 8 years left on that contract (roughly 28 million a year) for a guy who should strictly be a DH, and comes off a bit whiny.
We should be locking down Kyle Tucker and potentially PCA, rather than paying a Boston malcontent. (albeit one who can hit)

Taillon got absolutely lit up this evening.
One bad pitch and even that wasn't awful. It wasn't hit overly hard (99MPH), just found the right part of the ballpark.
He’s only a few years removed from being a top 30 prospect in all of baseball. I always thought he was a bit overrated, but he has some talent. Cubs just catching him when he’s hot evidently.
Imagine what half the teams we’ve played say about Carson Kelly…
