I would assume that Indy is saying that he is heading to kansas... hence the GIF

He had a visit lined up to Kentucky for this past weekend and postponed it

Louisville has also been in the mix

Still think if we fill one more spot if needs to be a 6-5 junkyard dog SG who can drill 3's.

Tre could have filled that role IMHO, not sure what the full story was. Maybe Ty can do this job as well, without a proven 3.
Lol a lot of teams would like that guy, that's why they're so expensive and hard to find.

He's not exactly "a 6-5 junkyard dog SG who can drill 3's"... but I think that 6'6" 225 SG Damari Monsanto of UT San Antonio is still in the portal. Monsanto averaged 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists this past season. He shot 40.7% on FGs, including an excellent 42.0% on 3-pointers, and he shot an outstanding 93.3% on FTs. I'm not sure if he's a junkyard dog, but he's definitely a veteran with lots of experience. He's listed as a SG, but he has enough size to play some SF also. I doubt he would cost $3M, or even $2M. And I'm just guessing, but it would probably take less than $1M to get him to Illinois. It was once indicated on this Board that Orlando Antigua has a previous relationship with Monsanto.

Likely would be at least 2mil. Still a lot.
What makes you think a mid-major (like Tennessee Tech) 6'5" Senior SF (like Rodney Johnson Jr.), a player who would not be a starter for the Illini, would cost "at least 2mill"? If so, I agree that's a lot to pay. I'd say that's too much to pay!

i mean will he even start? was a pure money grab recruitment and he used our offer to up his market value and eventually dump us. was probably never the plan to commit, and to take it down from the get-go. recruitments like this don't signal everyday guy. dodged a bullet with this one.

It’s early … But …

Me likey! Jason Crowe Jr. would be an awesome addition to the Illini. Does Coach Crowder have a connection with Crowe that might help the Illini with this recruitment? Coach Crowder grew up in LA and attended Verbum Dei High School in LA before playing college ball at Penn in Philadelphia. I understand that
Crowder also coached AAU ball for Paul Pierce's program.

You're right, it's early for a Class of 2027 recruit. Do you have any (early) info that young Mr. Crowe might someday be a candidate to reclassify to the Class of 2026?

Quincy G 2.0 would be nice on this squad for sure and I doubt would cost that for someone like him.

We needed more physicality diwn low last year at the 5 spot. After Tomi we didnt match up. I think we are a little better off this season and too much was asked of Rez and Ben to guard 5s. Theywere overmatched. Hopefully Mirk and big Z can jeep Bem out of those matchups. It was too much to ask of Ben. I really hope Ben exceeds expectations in better match ups. I believe he will improve shooting the ball. His D should be better this season defending 4s. Defending 5 regularly won't be expected from Ben this year with Brad's moves this off season. We wont be counting on undersized players to guard 5s like we did so often last season. Hopefully, that will have a positive impact on Ben on both ends if the floor and the teams success. I think it will.
How about Adou Thiero? He would give us a defensive presence and the athleticism we need. He’s been in the 2nd round in most mock drafts I’ve seen. Maybe that’s unrealistic.

Relevant nationally is hardly a "dream". Anything less than finishing ranked is below what our floor should be.

Yes, we're in a better place. But no one should look at last season and be happy.
It was a very good season last year. It would have been awesome to make the second weekend, but that was the most anybody could have expected. There is not anyway you could realistically believe that they had an Elite 8 team and certainly not a final four team.
