Illini gonna be happy to have gotten Andrej sewn up when they did.

Guys will drop out of draft. Guys will stay in the draft (ie Coward and have a ripple effect on guys like Sarr) Programs will only get more desperate as time passes. Lot of programs with money left and others will come up with some. And others will come out of nowhere like Kansas State with Coleman.

At different points after 2024 season we thought we were going to get AJ Storr, Ray J Dennis and Egor Demin via transfer portal

Instead we pivoted in June(?) and got KJ and Will.

I agree it is fantastic that even though we missed on Josh Dix, Sarr, Sellers and Miller we retained Kylan, Tomas, Ty, Jake Ben and Jason (6) Benclosed the deal on Big Z, Mirkovic, Andrej, Petrovic (4) before then end of May.

Like I said earlier today … Tough to beat …

Kansas Basketball Self GIF by Kansas Athletics
Is it getting to be 'results or move on' this year with Self and the donors at KU? I know it sounds crazy to say...but for the amount of money they throw around and the success they're used to... or maybe its the Kentucky situation fresh in my head.

Now wishing Sarr (or maybe a guy like keyshaun hall) had gone to KU and/or Coward didn't have that ridiculous combine.
I think it’ll be tough to land both Williams & Stokes for Kansas …
I'd imagine it would also be tough for Nc State to land both he and Haggerty (would be stupid if they had that NIL)

a Trent flex has gotta be good, right?

big step up this year in competition: prep school circuit. I imagine if excels, a re-class will be seriously considered
Yea the step-up in competition will get everyone’s attention I believe…should be a hot commodity this time next year…think the Illini will be the favs here

Yep. Turn down any scholarships NIL, pay out of state tuition, and decline any starting assignments. 4 sixth man of the year legend. Hang his jersey upside-down.😉

He won a title 3 years ago. Hardly comparable to Cal.

Im sure there's disappointment but I'd be shocked if it rose to a level anywhere close to what you're suggesting.

If there’s a good Euro kid … We’ve likely kicked the tires …

At minimum … 😉
There were always hype around Avdalas but right now, he is very much a project. They basically pronounced him as "Greek Luka" which is a stretch considering their timelines and game. For every good thing he does, there is always "but". And there are plenty of "but's" to go around and probably wont be cheapest to bring. His agent is serious candidate to take NBA job in Atlanta so that could also play a role. Think he needs few more years before going to NBA but college is more likely.

The other greek, stretch big Mantzoukas went to Oklahoma State. Thought he could go higher but got nice bag there.

Florida shot 35% from 3 last year. they averaged 24 attempts per game (43.5% of total FGA) Ranked 86th in NCAA
Illinois shoot 31%, from 3 last year, they averaged 28 attempts per game (47% of total FGA). Ranked 311th in NCAA

Not huge difference in number of attempts but better results

Illini 11.5 TO per game Florida 10.6

Florida defense
Illini 4 steals per age Florida 8 steals
Illini ranked 94th in defense efficiency Florida 21st

If Illini can improve their defence and shoot better on 3's we could have very good year.

I think this is what everyone is hoping. If we shoot 3pt like 35%, I am going to give Brad a break and consider defense optional. 🤣
