He is fantastic. Love when he posts.

I think he might be off on this one. And you know what, thats OK. Cant be perfect. JC visiting 15 times during the recruiting process and never committing is a sign that Illinois isn't offering what he is looking for. Whether that be playing time, style of play, money, etc.
JC visiting a dozen plus times shows how much he likes Illinois and the program. You don’t visit that many times if you don’t. Taking his official visits and getting some royal treatment at other places doesn’t change that.

I think it's a bit early to worry about Anderson. 247 hasn't made any predictions on this guy either way. So if he were the one telling reporters, why would he only tell On3 and not 247? Feels more likely On3 is getting their info from other sources, perhaps Ole Miss themselves, who probably feels confident even if they aren't truly in the lead.

If JC goes to Ole Miss, that would be a gut punch. Probably one of the worst in Illinois football history.
I don't know man, we've taken a lot of gut punches over the years. This one at least wouldn't be program ending, so there's that. Unless the program ending ones are defined as nut punches. We've taken a lot of those too.

Honestly though, I'm optimistic he chooses us. Hopefully this is simply Ole Miss being overconfident in their NIL offer.

Lol. Are you 18?

We're killing it on recruiting. We're going to miss on some guys we want and even some we expect. With the current class, future classes, and the portal this staff will suffer "gut punches" like a body builder.

You want to know a gut punch? Go back and look at the times we lost battles to MAC teams.

In the transfer portal world, no high school recruit is a massive gut punch anymore especially not at the TE position where our leading receiver catches 15-20 balls per year right now. Also, with where we are at as a program compared to prior years we will be just fine with/without him. Sure, it definitely sucks but in no way should it lead to doom and gloom vibes

I always trust our insiders, but the current landscape of recruiting and the transfer portal is inherently unstable …hope we can land one of Sutter or Anderson.

Yes, no need to freak out about a HS recruit within this current landscape. Decent odds by the time they are ready to contribute (ie upperclassmen) either one or both of Sutter or Anderson will have portaled from their SEC school (if that’s where they go), due to playing time, being recruited over, decent chance Freeze gets canned and Auburn has a new staff in a year, etc.

And I like Vala and the kid from Maroa Foresyth as developmental pieces. Iowa manages to churn out NFL tight ends on the regular, many of whom weren’t stud HS recruits. And I understand they are different types of players (blocking vs receiving TE), but 5 years ago if I would have told you one of Reimann or Luke Ford was going to be a third round pick, who would you have guessed?

I would be thrilled with either Anderson or Sutter, but we will be fine regardless.

A anouncement in Mt. Zion? MT. Zion is deep orange and blue.....he grew up that way. The dissappointment at the home town anouncement would be felt if his choice was not ILL! I live there BTW. Hard to imagine making that anouncement at home if it is not us.
That is all i have on this one

Bama’s recruiting has really fallen off since Saban left. I liked Barnett a lot but I think he’s a huge reach for Alabama.
They signed the #5 class in the country last year and are on pace for a top 5 class again. And in this new revenue sharing world all of the top teams in recruiting will be signing multiple 3 stars. It's a new world.

Very solid 4/9 in 2026
I checked on this to see what he was missing on, and whether there were a lot of guys he was predicting to Ole Miss that were going elsewhere. He's actually only missed once in 2025 (date of prediction, not class), on a prediction he made 6 weeks before the guy ended up committing elsewhere. This has his success rate closer to 69% (NICE!) for class of 2026. It looks like he has a lot of predictions where he predicted right but was in the "zero zone" which means the prediction was too close to the commitment so 247 doesn't count it. He did have a bunch of misses in the fall. His misses do tend to be Ole Miss predictions for guys that end up going elsewhere. I guess we'll see.
