Sorry. It was meant to be a joke. I was at the office and someone dropped in. I posted it before adding a disclaimer and forgot about it.
I have zero tolerance for spousal abuse. I once offered to drive my father in law 10 hours to his daughter's house to "speak" with his s-i-l about hitting his wife.
A nice guy (big) who travelled for work came in one afternoon stunned. He said that his dad had told him and his brother that he needed their help. He said that they went and beat the hell out of their sister's husband. Dad told him that he would personally kill him if he hurt his daughter again. "I've had a good life and (daughter) is also going to. Prison for my last few years would be worth getting rid of you if you do it again." Then he kicked the beat-up guy one more time.
The guy said that he never knew of his Dad fighting before, he and his brother were peaceful, but they made an exception that morning. He said that he was probably more upset that the BIL was hitting his sister than that he had helped beat the BIL. That was at least 30 years ago, probably a little more. I don't remember his name but his face that day is solidly in my memory.

was looking forward to some Cardinals baseball after 5 days ...............lol......................Pallante took that joy away with his frustrating wanderlust of missing the plate then serving up belt high nothing burgers in the middle of the plate......he has no idea where the ball is going after he releases it..........he really really doesn't , whereas the D back starter , PPFFFFDDAAAATTTTTTTTT has only given up 2 hits.....

Pallante goes 4 2/3 innings giving up 9 hits and 6 runs..........the mighty John King is in to save the day................./s

Herrera swinging at a ball at least 3 feet off the plate is my signal to turn off the heartburn redbirds and tee up some saucy Netflix movies.........it really really is.......................

I know I am an old fossil and do not understand the ins and outs of modern day baseball strategy. But why do you leave a pitcher out there for 4 2/3 innings when it is quite obvious that he does not have his stuff an inning or 2 earlier? I am saying this when you consider the fact that your staff is well rested and no one has pitched since last Sunday.

My thought is that they are currently playing in Arizona which is known to give up the long ball and alot of runs scored overall in that ballpark. The next series is in Colorado which is pretty self explanatory. Even though right after the break, these two stadiums can chew up a pitching staff and it's pen.

Because in game 1 of a series and of a road trip, the last thing you want to do is burn out your bullpen. You can't let one loss turn into two, do you try and do everything possible to get your starter through 5, if not 6. In the absence of that, you have to start dealing with availability.

Another modern day change in strategy is to understand what you are as a ball club. This team outperformed expectations for much of the first half of the season. Rebuild and be dedicated to it.

Exactly. Both stadiums on this road trip are at altitude (though Phoenix is obviously not quite to the extent of Denver). They did bring up on commentary last night how tough it must be for Arizona and Colorado to evaluate their AAA pitching talent when they play their home games in Reno and Albuquerque.

Cardinals now are in 4th place falling behind the Reds and 8.5 GB......the " runway " is getting shorter everyday for a seller's market or should I say cellars market....

Gorman on IL with back pain.........Saggese recalled from AAA.......I was hoping they would have given JJ Wetherholt a shot to shine.....

So far a JUGS machine would pitch as well as Cardinal starters.

I think I'll try Prime Video for my early viewing pleasure today...............I really really am......

Our Birds have played like dog poo this weekend. Not many bright spots out of these 3 games. It looks like they have seen a sweeper or a slide piece their whole careers. Hopefully Colorado will be the right medicine.

Trade Helsley. He's the only asset they have that would bring anything significant in return. Matz and Maton could be good bullpen adds for someone else, might get a decent minor league guy back. Fedde is getting close to DFA territory as he'd be tough to trade as bad as he's been. Mikolas is a 10/5 guy with a NTC so even if somebody wanted him, which is unlikely at this point, he'd have to waive the NTC to make it work and he has indicated he wants to finish the year here. Arenado has a hefty contract and also a NTC, also tough to move since he can't hit anymore.

I could see the Yankees making a push for Nado. They are entering towards desperation time at 3rd. I believe they want Jazz off of 3rd permanently. Peraza stinks and Cabrera is hurt. I don't know how Nado would feel about NY. I would think goldy being there would help.

I think you are spot on as far as what we'd get back with Helsley.

Here is a list of guys the Yankees might go after to address that need. Arenado is not even on the list. Most of these guys are better than Arenado at the moment, all of them are cheaper (salary-wise), and most of them are younger.

The fact is for every team in the market for a 3B there will be better options than Arenado. The Cardinals lack leverage for any trade, and even moreso with the NTC. Basically the only way to get rid of him at this point would be to eat most of his salary and not ask for much in return. Not sure the front office would do that.

No question there are better options. The Yankees were just the team that came round the top of my head.

Spot on. I say platoon Nado and Gorman with Gorman playing 2-3 times each week against RHP. Yes we give up stellar D from Nado but we are going nowhere with him anyway. Gorman needs PA's to show if he can hit or not and only playing here and there just kicks that can down the road. Time to find out.
