The idea you’d extend Jed Hoyer if he can’t get some major league caliber pitchers is beyond me.

This is pathetic to just forfeit games and then hope you don’t lose the division by 1-2 games.

Our DH in center field with a hell of a night, 0-3 with 2 K’s.

Guy is in his 30s and has never been on a good team and you see why

What are their options? Another full bullpen game?
Last night was a bullpen game. Braiser started the game and threw one inning. Brown came into the game in the second inning. Brown gave up a homer in the second, got through the 3rd with no runs, gave up 2 in the 4th and 3 more in the 5th. Not sure what to do with him to be honest. He has potential but potential doesn't cut it during a playoff race when he's getting tagged. Maybe he needs a change of scenery.

Flexen wasn't any better last night, either...

Berti pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning. He was our most successful pitcher of the night.

Losing Steele early in the year was a huge blow to this team. Hoyer clearly needs to grab a starter but there just aren't many good options out there. And having Shaw absolutely stink it up has put the Cubs in a very bad spot.

Sometimes the most exhausting part of being a Cubs fan is the dooming that comes with fellow Cubs fans.

The sky-is-falling narrative is, to borrow a phrase from the last few years, "so Cub."

Brewers caught up with an 11-game winning streak. Cubs have a historically elite offense. Defense is solid. Bullpen has figured it out (Palencia especially has been a rock). Rotation needs some work and health, but an overhaul isn't needed at the deadline. Offseason acquisitions for the most part are playing out well-above expectations. Hoyer et al. will make some moves by the deadline.

(It's going to be okay)

For real. Only Cubs fans would be angry when we're 59-41 through 100 games :ROFLMAO: I get it, though. Before 2016, it was kind of always the same story. "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride" etc.

What would it take to convince Hoyer to take either Mikolas or Fedde off of the Cardinal's hands? ... or take them BOTH . Us Cardinals fans would not object to this at all.

If I'm Hoyer You would have to pay their salaries and throw in someone who can play. I would DFA them before they flew to Chicago. You get no player or money in return, but your team would be improved. Win-Win

Cubs being handed a free win tonight getting to face a 45 year old beer league pitcher.

Will they take it though?

Why do I have to watch Turner? The old man was solid player10 years ago. Let Busch play everyday.

Please!!!!
Because all Hoyer left Counsell with on the bench is Turner, Brujan and Berti. At least Turner takes a major league caliber AB. The other two......woof.

To me, the guy who needs to spend some significant time on the bench is Happ. He's damn near and automatic out right now. He's not hitting from either side. Useless.

If you're Counsell, you have to play your bench. He'll burn the roster out otherwise. Plus, can't get around Busch's splits. Not good. I understand that he needs to see the pitching more consistently, but with such a left handed dominant lineup, they don't have a ton of options to mix things up when facing left handed pitching.

I probably posted something similar when this subject was brought up, but here is my guess. On the year, Busch has 59 ABs against lefties and has 5 runs, 2 home runs, 4 RBI, 5 walks, 19 SO and a slash line of .186/.262/.322. In a very similar amount of ABs (67) against lefties, Turner has 6 runs, 2 home runs, 7 RBI, 6 walks, 11 SO and a slash line of .288/.338/.424.

Busch is having a very nice season and Turner not so much, so an upgrade over Turner would be nice. But against lefties this perceived big drop off just isn’t there. In fact, some may look at those numbers and think Turner is being slightly more productive against lefties than Busch.

You’re welcome!!!!

I get as frustrated after a couple of losses as anybody, but a little perspective helps. We’re tied for the best record in baseball. The Dodgers and Astros have lost 7 of ten and the mighty Tigers have lost 8 of ten. We’ve lost 4 of ten, so we’re doing ok. It’s a game of streaks. Hopefully the Brewers cool off soon,

Keep winning 3 of every 5. And beat Milwaukee head-to-head by at least 1 game over the full season.

97 wins will do it!
