A few flip candidates that I like. I’ll have a separate post with that. Another kid I like that’s uncommitted is Trenton Walker from naz. Unfortunately I doubt we are looking add at wr

thanks, looking forward to it. not being able to take kids we would have a short time ago is a good problem to have

Nice story in today's issue of the New York Times about Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska which is the high school team where Illinois recruit Nelsyn Wheeler is the star running back. It also mentioned Bret Bielma recruiting him and that Illinois was a top tier team. Also mentioned was Landen Von Seggern an offensive lineman from that team that is also going to Illinois

What's everyone's top flip target? I know we might not have accurate info on who's still interested, so let's just limit this to anyone who did an official visit:

Mine is Micah Smith.
Micah would be an amazing flip but I'd lean towards Gene Riordan if given the choice. Feels like Iowa still has the edge in recruiting when they go head to head with the Illini for a top recruit. Hoping that changes soon.

We didn’t press Riordan for a commitment. What other recruits are they “ beating” us on

I'm not an insider so I'll take your word for it that they didn't push for the commit. I was going off of the effort it appeared they were showing with campus visits, offering his brother before other programs, and an in-home visit from the staff including BB.

I was referring mostly to recruiting before BB but even last year Iowa landed both Gautcher and Cooney at the linebacker position. The staff seemed to be on both for a long time. Luckily Walters was fired and BB was able to land Beerman. There were others that Illinois offered that ended up at Iowa but it is hard to determine how much of a priority they were for Illinois (Epenesa was always an Iowa lean given family history but others like Devan Kennedy, Will Nolan, etc.).

Didn’t recruit Nolan hard but regardless we won’t win every recruiting battle. We beat Iowa for instate kids such as Faegin,Laughery, Thomann, Liggins, Lovett,Hankins, Rankins,Tuerk, Trimble…etc

I'd love to know the process for this, because I agree that Illinois changed their interest. Now, the staff already had Von Seggern and Thomann committed. They also were pushing in all their chips on Micah Smith. But during that December - March timeframe, there are no camps, games, etc. It can't be a situation where they saw more performance from Riordan and changed their tune. Maybe it was a NIL cost (seems unlikely). All of those details lead to me finding it funny that Illinois had him as their A target for interior o-line and then something change during the late winter time period.

Short version: It's interesting when teams completely shift their interest in the winter period, especially for prospects they are prioritizing but then decide they are no longer interested.

young(er) IOL is stocked pretty well, with Henderson, Tuerk, McD and Von Seggern (and possibly Tony B too). maybe they decided that ride is better used elsewhere.

I don’t understand why we waited so long for Fors. I definitely like Riordan better as a prospect.

IOL is stacked but we were still recruiting Fors. We need to hit on a couple OT recruits

Whoa, that’s my High School. Only person of note to come to U of I from the Pumpkin Capital of the World is Kevin Bontemps.
Mine as well (for 2 years). Love the Potters
I'm from Morton as well and I see Soren working out at the gym I work out at sometimes.
Apparently we have a Morton faction here as well as WIVC/WCC (or WGEM/KHQA viewing area) faction.

(I am only in the WIVC/WCC faction btw)
