sure, but none one of those guys have ever been starters at any level in college so it will likely be a big step back in terms of quality/production.Will it? They bought in two solid tackle options this season (who will both be back), Henderson will be back, and also rotational pieces like McMillan (center), Hansen, McDonough, freshman Kai Pritchard. Of course they will need to be "replaced" - you're losing starters - but you won't need a transfer overhaul.
I think it's much more on the defensive front.
This is flat out untrue. Henderson was the starter last year (and will very likely be this year), Knapnik was 1st team Big Sky and one of the best OTs in the FCS... not to mention McMillan who started nine games as a sophmore and was "Phil Steele All-Big South/Ohio Valley Conference Fourth Team."sure, but none one of those guys have ever been starters at any level in college so it will likely be a big step back in terms of quality/production.
I love the fact Art struggled as a player but relationships between him and the coaches developed him in to a fine coach and now hes thriving.
Our very own HC Bret Bielema was not a HC prior to taking over at Wisconsin. I think Lunney is compensated well enough to not need to go HC at somewhere just to do it. He can afford to wait for a good opening.I can make a FG, but not if the goal post is on wheels.
Art got a 300% raise for this yearI’m assuming Art’s salary is doubled next year.

Coach B calls Art a "shooting star" in the coaching circles, recognizing his talent and potential. While his personality could eventually lead to opportunities elsewhere, his current rapid ascent at Illinois indicates a strong connection to our team.Art is a rising star in the coaching ranks. I think Josh will do everything to keep him here pay-wise. He is learning from Lunney and Bret. He is a HC in waiting.
They have Hampton who is expecting to get another year of eligibility and was a starter at NIU last year. Combine that with some talented underclassmen and I think there might not be a need to go spend a ton on a transfer QB. Better to save that money for other positions of need and use the homegrown talent at QB.

No guarantee that Hampton even wins the backup job this year …
Wasn't the niu transfer a starter or am I remembering it wrong?sure, but none one of those guys have ever been starters at any level in college so it will likely be a big step back in terms of quality/production.
Wasn't Hampton the NIU QB that beat Notre Dame ladt season? But agree, get the QB position right first, who ever that may be.No guarantee that Hampton even wins the backup job this year …
Sorry I was off by 50%350%** …
Yes, anything is possible. Barry is also about to turn 51 years old already. If he wants to be a HC someday, the time might be now. I am not advocating he take any old job. If Jason Candle finally moves up, for example, the Toledo job would be a very good place to give it a go. If Toledo throws 4 years/$6 million at you, it would be enticing for a lot of guys who finally want to run their own program. Our very own HC Bret Bielema was not a HC prior to taking over at Wisconsin. It’s gotta be Boyd that’s pushing him, right? I like Petty but I don’t see him above HamptonNo guarantee that Hampton even wins the backup job this year …
