Will it? They bought in two solid tackle options this season (who will both be back), Henderson will be back, and also rotational pieces like McMillan (center), Hansen, McDonough, freshman Kai Pritchard. Of course they will need to be "replaced" - you're losing starters - but you won't need a transfer overhaul.

I think it's much more on the defensive front.
sure, but none one of those guys have ever been starters at any level in college so it will likely be a big step back in terms of quality/production.

This is flat out untrue. Henderson was the starter last year (and will very likely be this year), Knapnik was 1st team Big Sky and one of the best OTs in the FCS... not to mention McMillan who started nine games as a sophmore and was "Phil Steele All-Big South/Ohio Valley Conference Fourth Team."

I love the fact Art struggled as a player but relationships between him and the coaches developed him in to a fine coach and now hes thriving.

Having experienced the ups and downs of playing, including a significant injury, Art can easily likely relate to the mental and physical demands faced by all players.

This empathy and understanding can be invaluable in building strong relationships and providing guidance and he has publicly stated his focus on impacting and empowering players, emphasizing building relationships both on and off the field. All of this makes him an effective recruiter.

Makes over 1 million year. Gonna have to be pretty special and huge numbers to get him out of here!

Art is a rising star in the coaching ranks. I think Josh will do everything to keep him here pay-wise. He is learning from Lunney and Bret. He is a HC in waiting.
Coach B calls Art a "shooting star" in the coaching circles, recognizing his talent and potential. While his personality could eventually lead to opportunities elsewhere, his current rapid ascent at Illinois indicates a strong connection to our team.

While future opportunities may arise, everything suggests Art is focused on his role with the Illinois Fighting Illini.

They have Hampton who is expecting to get another year of eligibility and was a starter at NIU last year. Combine that with some talented underclassmen and I think there might not be a need to go spend a ton on a transfer QB. Better to save that money for other positions of need and use the homegrown talent at QB.

No guarantee that Hampton even wins the backup job this year …

regardless of who wins the role, it's a whole new deal for next season (26). the backup is going to have to perform awfully well (even if he doesn't get many snaps (knock on wood)) to convince staff not to pursue a transfer QB. awfully well

Our very own HC Bret Bielema was not a HC prior to taking over at Wisconsin. I think Lunney is compensated well enough to not need to go HC at somewhere just to do it. He can afford to wait for a good opening.
Yes, anything is possible. Barry is also about to turn 51 years old already. If he wants to be a HC someday, the time might be now. I am not advocating he take any old job. If Jason Candle finally moves up, for example, the Toledo job would be a very good place to give it a go. If Toledo throws 4 years/$6 million at you, it would be enticing for a lot of guys who finally want to run their own program.

It's a great vocational question. Some guys (i.e., Chuck Martin leaving ND for Miami OH) openly admit that it wasn't about finances, they just wanted to be back in the "big chair" again. I have no idea what Lunney is like or seeking, but any coordinator on the upswing is likely having discussions with their agent on how big (or small) their interest circle for upcoming jobs. A job opening like Arkansas is likely a no-doubter, but that's also why Arkansas would likely have candidates ahead of Lunney on their target list.
