Yeah I was trying to be proactive in my thinking. The run was nice but was never going to last. Had to be ready to pivot off him which they are doingWell you did say if the Cubs trade for someone, and that wasn’t the case.

Have a feeling Cubs trade for Sandy A. Just seems like Hoyer has coveted him, he’s had two decent starts, and they like he is controllable.

The good thing is that there is plenty of baseball left, even if they get swept today.
Crazy how reliable Flexen was for awhile there. I still think starting him at Yankee Stadium that one game just shattered all confidence and he never got it back.
His history showed he was very unlikely to continue with the level of success he was having, but, yes, that decline was steep and quick.
Need relief pitching at the deadline, but so does everyone else. Cost will be high, which I think fans completely underestimate. I saw a random tweet where guy had on his wish list Saurez (SD) and Iglesias (ATL) labeled as high $ low prospect potential. Cost for Iglesias might be relatively low, but no way will Saurez’s. Going to start seeing some very good prospects changing hands soon. Remains to be seen how many are from Cubs organization, which ones, and what we get for them. .
31-ish hours to the deadline and absolute radio silence on potential Cubs deals. I’m sure they’ll do something, but the lack of any leaks at all is sure something.
I’ve seen some mentions of guys they’re supposedly in on, but, yeah, nothing concrete. Reportedly teams have been asking for the moon and stars, so now getting closer to deadline the asks will come down some. I do wonder if the lack of pitching prospects in their top 30 other than a high end guys will hinder deals as almost every deal made so far has brought back pitching prospects.

Yeah, was hoping for 2 out of 3 but I’ll take 1 out of 3 considering we weren’t favored to win the series on the road. A sweep would have been disastrous. Still got 5 more games against Milwaukee all at Wrigley.

First two top 100 prospects (#56 and #92) were traded today, both by Phillies to get Jhoan Duran (two more seasons of control) from Twins. The former, Mick Abel, has pitched some in majors this year. Mets paid up for Ryan Helsley too, but as a rental cost just a bit less — their #8 and #14 prospects plus an unranked prospect. May not be any RPs left for Cubs if they don’t do something quick.
