I wish that the Illini would've waited till the charges were dropped on Keonte Jones and signed him up. Just like Dayton did.

So you already have him sitting on the bench, while you’re sitting on the couch. We never had this crap a few years ago on this site. He’s an Illini man now, so if you don’t like it, stay away.

Double lol. I'm having a difficult summer, and had a horrible day. Thank you for making me laugh. I'm sorry I beat you to the punch.

I was actually thinking when I screenshotted it "I bet altgeld88 wasn't expecting to have 2+ year old post resurface today but there we are." I almost and probably should have tagged too. I'm happy it brought some levity to your day.

B1G really hasn't generated that many NBA players in 2020s.

Wagner and Queen do not belong there, murray should not be over TJD, Jalen Pickett, EJ Liddell should be 3rd team. They're going by position so Garza can't be 1st team unless you put him over Edey.

Keegan Murray over TJD is insanity. Garza and Kofi are both too low, but if you can only put one center on a team that's about the best you can do.
Yeah, I mean having two 2x NPOY, and a first team AA who was a legit candidate for NPOY all at that position in such a short amount of time, Big Ten centers were crazy in that 5 year span.

Agree 100% about TJD.

I love Kofi, but there is nothing other than abject homerism that could possibly make anyone think that either Kofi or Garza should be ranked ahead of Zach Edey.

Hope your weekend makes up for the bad day brother!

I'm getting old and my concept of time has become warped, damaged no doubt by the COVID period of enforced isolation.

I recall making that post and citing Miss Dickinson; however, if I had to guess when I did that I would have said some time last summer or fall, not two summers ago. Anyway, thanks for citing it. It made me feel good to know that I provided some further levity two years after the fact.

As I noted, I'm swimming through molasses lately, at work and in life generally. That post reminded me that this, too, shall pass. I'm resolved that by the end of the month I'll be in a better place all around. Just in time to enjoy our football season.

And @Illini in Italy , you're spot on with that GIF. Thank you. Our 18-month-old rescue beagle (below: Caio, which is Portuguese for "Joy") makes life better no matter what. We had to put his predecessor, 16 years old and having suffered with an inoperable tumor for most of 2024, to sleep at 2 a.m. Sunday morning last Sept. 8 immediately after the Illini beat Kansas in that thrilling comeback. I arrived home from enjoying that at the bar with @Retro62 to find that Lucas could no longer get himself up off the floor and was in great distress. We lay there trying to comfort him for hours before acknowledging what we had to do. Just gutted me. He died happily, however, having enthusiastically lapped up a can of cat food I fed him (using a tongue depressor) that the vet provided.

Beagles are now inextricably linked in my heart with the Beloved. :illinois:

It's off season for basketball. I'm allowed to go off-topic. ;)
