I was actually thinking when I screenshotted it "I bet altgeld88 wasn't expecting to have 2+ year old post resurface today but there we are." I almost and probably should have tagged too. I'm happy it brought some levity to your day.
Hope your weekend makes up for the bad day brother!
I'm getting old and my concept of time has become warped, damaged no doubt by the COVID period of enforced isolation.
I recall making that post and citing Miss Dickinson; however, if I had to guess when I did that I would have said some time last summer or fall, not two summers ago. Anyway, thanks for citing it. It made me feel good to know that I provided some further levity two years after the fact.
As I noted, I'm swimming through molasses lately, at work and in life generally. That post reminded me that this, too, shall pass. I'm resolved that by the end of the month I'll be in a better place all around. Just in time to enjoy our football season.
And
@Illini in Italy , you're spot on with that GIF. Thank you. Our 18-month-old rescue beagle (below: Caio, which is Portuguese for "Joy") makes life better no matter what. I arrived home from enjoying that at the bar with
@Retro62 to find that Lucas could no longer get himself up off the floor and was in great distress. We lay there trying to comfort him for hours before acknowledging what we had to do. Just gutted me. He died happily, however, having enthusiastically lapped up a can of cat food I fed him (using a tongue depressor) that the vet provided.
Beagles are now inextricably linked in my heart with the Beloved.
It's off season for basketball. I'm allowed to go off-topic.
