They're brutal games, but to the contrary, there are position battles to be won. These coaches need all of the tape they can get PLUS they need to get the primary guys reps. The players that do get cut, but had a great preseason, now have tape and they can get picked up because of it.thank God there are only 3 bogus games now
hopefully , the season goes to 18 games and they drop another pre-season game off the schedule . two of them is plenty .
Depth on a football team is absolutely critical. A lack of it is a killer, which is why picking the best guys at the end of the roster requires a full look with every last piece of information gathered.
All of the above can't be done in two weeks, in two games. Those games aren't really meant for our viewing pleasure because I agree, it's not overly thrilling.
All that said, while I completely understand the need for the full slate of preseason games, there is absolutely no reason that the tickets should be regular season prices. That's the NFL though. It's an empire that prints money and they take full advantage of it.
