First time ever? Hard to believe we've never even had one before.
The conference has only held the event for 30 years. You can probably count the number of Illinois entrants on one hand during that time. That will change with our new coach who is considered one of the preeminent combined events coaches in the country. Don't be surprised if we have four men score points in the event next year at the conference meet (all from the Netherlands). By the way, the score reported above in not correct (Rapp got a 7572, not 7752}.First time ever? Hard to believe we've never even had one before.

FantasticIllini finished only 1.5 points out of fourth place (you get a nice trophy for that). Amazing how much talent on the team was redshirted this year as well as new recruits coming in next year. Petros really knows what he doing by overloading on the field events in an effort to win an NCAA Championship (mighty Oregon finished 10th). He has stated he really doesn't care about Big Ten titles. He wants to win it all.

Surprised, though pleased, to see Abria Smith back for another year. Also great to see Rose Yeboah get an extra year. Both are threats to win national championships. Should be a great year.Amazing group of talent https://fightingillini.com/sports/womens-track-and-field/roster
What the....how can a P4 school only have 7 runners?Going to be a tough season for the men's cross country: https://fightingillini.com/sports/mens-cross-country/roster
I don't know how you can be competitive with a seven-man roster. One of them, Hoffmann, is really a long sprinter. Maybe they can raid the university track club for a couple bodies.
Looks like we're going to have two last place cc teams; although I know nothing about the euros on the women's side.Going to be a tough season for the men's cross country: https://fightingillini.com/sports/mens-cross-country/roster

I have 4 years of eligibility left, though at 59, may not be much help. What the....how can a P4 school only have 7 runners?
Name checks out...We do have a freshman pole vaulter named Gator. How many teams can say that?
