That game will be on ESPN, Big Noon will be Utah and Texas Tech. Should be a good game but still surprised they didn’t pick the game with a top 10 team.
Texas Tech-Utah seems to be as irrelevant of a Big Noon game as you can get. Outside of west Texas and Salt Lake City, who’s excited about that game?

I'd argue that NATIONALLY it's about as exciting as Illinois-Indiana.

Also, this week's game is way worse.
Good Lord. Are you kidding me?! Oregon @ NW is the Big Noon game??!! That is serious bottom feeding.

Big Noon is even less “objectively national” than Gameday these days. Not only is it disproportionately at Big Ten or Big XII games, there are 6 weekends where they don’t even get the first pick of available Big Ten matchups and some where they get third pick! 😂

Let's pause for a moment and contemplate the quality of the BT schedule this weekend if Oregon (having dispatched a credible Big 12 team 69-3 last weekend) at NW is "third pick." Oregon is favored by four TDs.

I am lmao. :ROFLMAO: I just listened to them hype Texas @ OSU a couple weekends ago as "the most important season-opening game in college football history" (I'm serious... they actually said that... of two teams starting QBs who had never started in a game v. a credible opponent.)

Can't wait to see how much lipstick they slather on the Oregon-NW pig in a desperate bid to make it attractive. Their site exhorts us to "MEET US AT THE LAKEFILL!"

lol. Yeah. That sounds safe and inviting. Oh, and make sure to pop the collar on your polo and bring a shiv in case things get tyfoon stylz.

You have to remember that most of the games for the B1G this week are also non-conference, and two of the more marquis non-conference games are on the road (Wisconsin @ Bama and Minnesota @ Cal). As a result, ESPN/ABC had rights to those games. When you start digging through where the B1G has the television rights, there simply were not many great options, especially if you are third in the pecking order (no clue what the order was). There are only two conference games on the schedule, and the choice was Oregon @ NW (Fox) or USC @ Purdue (CBS). Both of these are not great choices to pick from. I think Fox chose the best option that was available to them, and I think they preferred to host a conference game rather than a B1G team playing a weak non-conference opponent. Early season games are sometimes tough on the networks to get an appealing matchup.

Fully realize all that, still am lmao.

It makes you wonder if the conference shouldn't sprinkle in some conference games in those early weeks. Maybe each team plays an one early game like the December games in basketball.

Indiana has an 11 game win streak at
Home. Didn’t lose at home last year, haven’t lost this year.

Yes. 2 ranked road games last year.
This year Illinois only ranked team at home, 2 on the road, as of now.
Been said here 1000 times but an absolutely ridiculous schedule. Don’t want to hear about win streaks when you are repeatedly playing the Little Sisters of the Poor.

How about forcing Ruhle ans Cignetti to play a game on a neutral field? Both seem to schedule the worst teams from lowest divisions of college football.
How much of this schedule did Cignetti inherit?

I dont really blame him too much. Indiana traditionally is just trying to figure out how to make a bowl game and a schedule like this helps.

But as someone noted above, the schedule isn't helping them prepare for us.

Florida International
Charlotte
Western Illinois
Maryland
Nebraska
Washington
Michigan
Purdue
Old Dominion
Kennesaw State
Indiana State

Nebraska and Michigan are really the only two impressive wins and neither were top tier teams last year. But give them credit… they’ve beaten the teams on their schedule.

This could all be very much true, but it doesn't help his case when he moans about SEC schedules.

100% correct on last statement. The Duke game last week will have the Illini much more prepped for conference season than IU. Hopefully that translates to an Illini win.

He might have inherited this year's, but he's not shying away from getting some cupcakes in future schedules.

they have totally adjusted their schedule per his direction, including at least one game this year
