Yes it does. Harper and Bailey were Cooper Flagg level guys. While I agree KJ and Riley probably aren’t your best shot at winning a national title, guys like Harper and Bailey probably are assuming you can put a team around them.
I agree with you. I'd be curious to know just what number of NBA ready one and dones you can have start or in your rotation and be a team that can win a title.

Nah, still not convinced. I just don't think two freshman as the core of your team is ideal. Duke had a really good regular season and a good postseason, yet ultimately they were sent home by a team (Houston) made up of all upperclassmen.

You're not convinced because Duke made the Final Four as a 1 seed and lost by 3 to another 1 seed? That looks like a great result to me.

It is a great result (however rare it may be that you get such a result with a team built that way). Though, I also understand that a core of freshmen most typically ends with Rutgers/Illinois type of results.

Only 19 of the top 100 kids in the 2026 class are committed (Ehtan Harris isn't even top 120 according to 247). Schools who do NOT have a top 100 recruit include; Kansas, UCONN, Indiana, Michigan, Auburn, Florida, Houston, Gonzaga, Duke and ofcourse, Illinois. FSU, Georgia Tech, and Mizzou are the top 3 classes.

I fear we're drastically overreacting to a Landon Davis commitment. Which is why i love this forum.

nevertheless, a good chunk of the base is worried or edging towards panic

We tried the whole 5 star freshman thing last year too, far far greater chance it’ll be more like us or Rutgers unless one of them is a Cooper Flagg level guy (which is extremely doubtful)

I just don’t think one and done players are the blueprint to winning college basketball games
I don't mind one 5 star freshman on the team. However you still have to ask yourself whether that's the most efficient way to use NIL. I wouldn't know that as an outsider.

I can definitely take Dook last year results but the problem is we don't have Dook NIL so we have to use our NIL more efficiently.

Last year Duke had 4 5 star freshman and 1 didn't even really play. They had 5 recruits in the top 21 and 6 in the top 40. Then they were also able to surround them with veteran talent.

It worked for Duke last year but you have to have a ton of money and the Duke name. Also, it took having a generational freshman in flag paired with perfect compliments in Kneuppel and Maluach. You're not going to be able to replicate that every year.

We could really use this guy. Let's loosen up the purse strings.
