This is worst case scenario and we’ve seen this happen too many times. I fear this scenario as a real possibility and hope these fears are unfounded.
I will add though that since BB has taken over, we've only been boatraced like that very few times (Virginia in year 1, and Oregon last year some to mind).

I think it is a bit odd the strong criticism of Indiana’s 2025 schedule to date. It’s very comparable to ours.

I think it's all because of them canceling the UVA series and Cignetti's "SEC Scheduling" comments. It's otherwise not way worse than many others

I agree with that and obviously agree their 2024 schedule was extremely easy. My only point was regarding the first theee games of 2025. Both teams have played nobody.

The thing that scares me the most about this game isn’t even us losing, it’s the fact that because were ranked top 10, if Indiana wins, they’ll likely move into the top 10 🤮

As much as I would love to say Illinois is the real #9 team and they should win comfortably, the reality is, if they play like they have the last 2 weeks they will lose this game by double digits and it may not be close.

The team speed is not great, and the db’s are not as strong as years past. This week and next with USC will tell a lot about how real this team is.

Hope I’m way off, but I’d take the -4.5.

I posted preseason that this is a high water season for Lunney’s abilities as OC. He’s going to be on trial this game playing against a similarly talented team.

I’m very happy with where the program is at right now and where it’s headed, and he gets credit for being a part of that.

As this program progresses, I am suspicious of his play calling setting our ceiling and costing us a few games. He just seems sluggish to make in game adjustments.

Gonna be tough to beat Indiana. Despite playing a very weak schedule, they’ve shredded their opponents, both on offense and defense. They’ve looked practically perfect through twelve quarters of play. Cignetti has them playing at an extremely high level and their confidence is off the charts.

Meanwhile, we’ve struggled to get the motor started in each of our three games with the offensive line looking pedestrian for the majority of the three. We won’t be able to wait until the second half to get going against a a disciplined, high-flying team like Indiana. They’ll slice and dice us like we’re Grambling State if we aren’t prepared from the get go.

Sadly, I see this getting out of hand early with the Hoosiers being nearly unstoppable.

52-10 Hoosiers.
Is Lovie Smith the coach?! Have you watched any Illinois football under Bret Bielema?

We could lose this game but we aren't getting blown out. Indiana is not Oregon

If you're taking the -4.5 points, you're expecting the Illini to cover. Did you mean IU 34 UI 31?

My biggest concern so far this young season is the O-line pass protection, are they going to be able to give Luke enough time to get into is progression and rhythm?.

Duke is better than Old Dominion, and we played them on the road. People are acting like Tulane is a bad program so there is no way Duke should have lost to them. Tulane is good team, and Duke played them on the road. I don't know if we'll win this game, but I do think playing at Duke will be a positive for us compared to Indiana's schedule thus far.

Was very impressed with Kaden Feagin.
I think he has ability and may do better from deeper in the backfield with Luke under center to get up a head of steam and see holes better. Jay Leman stated this recently during a podcast and I agree. Too often Feagin is stutter stepping and slowing down on runs behind the line. When he keeps up his momentum and makes more decisive cuts he is much more effective.

Hey Coach Lunney. Start game in no huddle hurry up for 2 or 3 series, PLEASE! Seems to work for entire offense starting 3rd quarter. CoachB mentioned getting Luke and men in better rhythm last night. Don't get off the bus after halftime, game will be over. I have full confidence in Staff and players. Not the officials at all. Beat Loosiers so bad, Referees can't steal game. I have nightmares of our game there 2 or 3 years ago.

coach punchface was still there and we were robbed by that whole officiating crew.......still burns my arse that a clear TD was stolen from us.......and also the game........

This is our 1st game against their new cupcake scheduling coach who seems to like to run up the score against weaker teams......Let's show him what the # 9th ranked team is all about.......we are the most physical team they will have faced so far this season and will unleash all of our skill and talent like a horde of mammoth's and flatten any hopes they have of post season play.........

Luke shines from the opening kickoff and Feagin and Valentine both go for 100 + rushing yards and TD's galore.......Mr. Beatty
returns another punt for a TD and the Illini D stiffens up with a couple fumble recoveries and INT's.....I predict...................

Illini 41
loosiers 27

the stolen FB game is revenged and our path to the playoffs gains ground big time................

LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps : ... I went to the grocery store over the weekend and stocked up on Orange and Blue flavored Gatorade and Powerade...

I will be ready to see us kick some loosier arse..............Are you ready ????

Offense.....Defense........Special Teams.........................The Illini Trinity..................WE GOT THIS !!!!!!!!....WE REALLY REALLY DO !!!!!

Don’t you read the board? He’s too slow hitting the hole and runs too upright.
Feagin admitted himself in post game interviews that he was being too indecisive. Though you'd be hard pressed to find an Illini fan that wasn't thrilled with what we saw in the 2nd half from him.

I think Feagin, along with Luke, play better in a no-huddle offense with tempo. Just from a defensive perspective, having to tackle KF without being able to substitute out seems beneficial for Illinois. Feel like that could be where he imposes his will.

Yep, I just don't understand all this IU hype. They need to show something this season. They lost a lot. They lost 13 guys off last years team and did add a few players but still have a lot more to prove than our squad that returns twice as many starters that won over SC in the bowl game and outscored Duke and WMU 83 to 19. ACC and MAC teams are better than what they have faced this year. I disagree their current players played teams as good as our starters have the last 7 or 8 games. The majority if IUs players have only 3 games together. We have a long streak going with the majority of the guys we have back. I don't know what to expect from IU but I do from our guys. I would've like our chances last year and like them even more this season. They lost a lot and need to show me they replaced a lot of what they lost.
