They also failed to score 4 times inside the 5 yard line. That Old Dominion team just ran Va Tech off the field. Indiana came out in the next game and played great in the redzone. We didn't look good in game 1 last season either and by games 3 or 4 we were cooking. I get why people still don't want to give Indiana respect because they laid an egg vs OSU and ND. But those were road games with a QB playing on a torn ACL and a broken thumb on his throwing hand. We simply couldn't pass the ball well. Fact is, Cignetti took over a team that won 9 games in 3 years and won 11 in year 1.IU only scored 27 on ODU, and I have to believe our defense is way better than ODU. I see a 31-27 Illini win.
Its well known what Cignetti has done, not sure why it needs to be announced on this forum. They also failed to score 4 times inside the 5 yard line. So do you expect Indiana in the CFP?Indiana fan here. I don't know what outcome to expect next weekend? But this Indiana team is far more talented than last season. Their OL is miles better. The QB is far more talented. The RBs are a lot better. The WR room is a year older. They brought back 3 Pre-Season All Americans on defense. Probably the most athletic defense we've ever had. I agree we've cleaned up on some cupcakes but Old Dominion just blew out Virginia Tech yesterday and is probably the best team in Virginia and Kennesaw State lost to Wake Forrest by 1 point. Maybe the ACC just sucks? There is no question in my mind that we would beat the living crap out of Duke. So we'll see what happens Saturday. Safe travels if you're coming here. I'll be there.
No. I think we will lose 2-3 games. We play 3 tough road games. I picked them to go 9-3. They know this Illinois game is huge because the next 2 are at Iowa and at Oregon. So do you expect Indiana in the CFP?
They both have done great. It's not you guys that I'm saying think less of the guy. But the National perspective still does. We hear "Schedule" pretty much every week. Guys we've had 4 win teams that played softer schedules. Our conference slate is way harder this season. Its well known what Cignetti has done, not sure why it needs to be announced on this forum.
What is more impressive, Cignetti's rebuild or St. Bret's?
That's without saying. The team that wins the turnover margin probably has a 95% chance of getting this dub.Turnovers could be key in this one, which is why I side with an Illinois win.
Indiana may open the game still “getting used” to Power 4 tackling and defensive back coverage, while we MAY have some element of shock to the system out of the way with our Power 4 Duke game. This could lead to an Indiana Fumble, Interception, or both; giving us the edge.
As much as we get frustrated by Luke taking sacks, he takes care of the ball and does not carelessly throw it to the other team instead. I like him as our leader in this one.
Agreed. To date, we have zero turn overs, and I believe the Hoosiers have only one.Turnovers could be key in this one, which is why I side with an Illinois win.
Hudson "Stickum" Clement? Add him to the Fred Biletnikoff Award watchlist based on on yesterday's one handed catch alone!Hudson Clement , your table is ready
I hear '"playoff participant" in reference to IU more often than not. The phrase often is a prefix when pundits nationally or otherwise discuss Indiana. They both have done great. But they beat 8 teams by 30+. You guys went to OT with Purdue. Indiana beat them by 66 pts. I understand that doesn't matter much based off 1 head to head result but they creamed a bunch of teams. They were in the OSU game until their punt team decided to hand them 14 pts on a bad snap and bad return defense. I've been an Indiana fan for 30 years and this is the best coached and most talented that I have ever seen them. This is the probably the most talented group of players that Indiana and Illinois has ever collectively put onto a football field.I hear '"playoff participant" in reference to IU more often than not. Bret fights for scraps.
No disrespect intended, at all. I'm just pointing out youre getting your just due on a national level, and the schedule thing is just a fact until it is not.
Im tickled to death about this game, and win or lose for either team doesn't spell the end of their respective seasons.
Indiana favored by 4.5 points, they are being given the homefield edge.
Yes, I stipulate to all that my bro, thats the point. I/we get it. Did you read my post? But they beat 8 teams by 30+. You guys went to OT with Purdue. Indiana beat them by 66 pts. In all seriousness, if Bowick can't suit up next week due to his apparent injury in yesterday's game, this could be the coming out party for Clement as an ILLINI wide receiver. Most ILLINI fans know very little about his background. He started every game last year for West Virginia and was their top receiver with team highs in catches (51), yards (741) and touchdowns (five). He saved his best for last, an 11-catch, 166-yard, two-touchdown performance in his final WVU game, the Mountaineers’ 42-37 Frisco Bowl loss to Memphis. After he transferred to Illinois, ESPN college football analysts Craig Haubert and Billy Tucker named Clement among the top transfers in College football. "Clement will end the season as Illinois' most productive receiver and the top target for Altmyer. His upside is extremely high and he's an experienced Power 4 veteran."Hudson "Stickum" Clement?
