Don’t you read the board? He’s too slow hitting the hole and runs too upright.
I was very impressed with KF's quicker acceleration hitting the holes last game.....he seemed more confident running especially with better yards gained after contact............maybe it just took a couple of games after having surgery to feel whole again.......I hope he continues with his improved rushing yards and Valentine shows more of his skills at lateral moves and shifty feet..........

I really really do..........

coach punchface was still there and we were robbed by that whole officiating crew.......still burns my arse that a clear TD was stolen from us.......and also the game........

This is our 1st game against their new cupcake scheduling coach who seems to like to run up the score against weaker teams......Let's show him what the # 9th ranked team is all about.......we are the most physical team they will have faced so far this season and will unleash all of our skill and talent like a horde of mammoth's and flatten any hopes they have of post season play.........

Luke shines from the opening kickoff and Feagin and Valentine both go for 100 + rushing yards and TD's galore.......Mr. Beatty
returns another punt for a TD and the Illini D stiffens up with a couple fumble recoveries and INT's.....I predict...................

Illini 41
loosiers 27

the stolen FB game is revenged and our path to the playoffs gains ground big time................

LET'S GO ILLINI !!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps : ... I went to the grocery store over the weekend and stocked up on Orange and Blue flavored Gatorade and Powerade...

I will be ready to see us kick some loosier arse..............Are you ready ????

Offense.....Defense........Special Teams.........................The Illini Trinity..................WE GOT THIS !!!!!!!!....WE REALLY REALLY DO !!!!!
Regarding the revenge, John Paddock did hang 500 yds on them in 2023

I know in the grand scheme of things, the difference isn’t a big one, but this shows what drives me nuts about social media. Indiana is number 17 and 19 in polls. I may not be great at math, but I don’t think that makes them a top 15 team. Why lie about?
I think his tweet was made before the rankings were updated. He just overweighted the Indiana State win in his projection

Yep, I just don't understand all this IU hype. They lost 13 guys off last years team and did add a few players but still have a lot more to prove that our squad that returns twice as many starters that won over SC in the bowl game and outscored Duke and WMU 83 to 19. ACC and MAC teams are better than what they have faced this year. I disagree their current players played teams as good as our starters have the last 7 or 8 games. We have a long streak going with the majority of the guys we have back. The guys they return are the minority of thier starters so I don't know what to expect from IU but I do from our guys.
I respect your opinion but I think we know what to expect from IU. They will put their foot on the gas and not let up. I don't think we really know WHAT TO EXPECT from the Illini. We have been Jekyl and Hyde the last two games. The first half was NOT good in either game offensively. The offense to me was stagnant. The offensive blocking scheme was horrible in the first half of WMU. If that happens against IU, we will lose handily. As a matter of fact, we could have a turnover or two. If we play like we are capable in the 2nd half of those games, I think we win. Our defense has been good but we have not played a team as good as them offensively. Duke was pretty good but Indiana is on another level. Personally I am hoping that 1st half against WMU was our last hiccup.

It will help a lot that IU isn’t showing up until Sunday.

Of the 8 starters that returned from IU how many are on offense? How can we judge what they have done given who they played? These MAC teams starting players are not bad players. Ohio played with Ohio State at half it was 13 to 3. Depth eventually kicked in for them as well. If most the guys IU returns are on Offense then you may be right but if it's 3 or 4 out if 11 it's hard to know what they really have given who they played imo. We will be the best team by far they have played and if they had returned 16-17 starters from last season too then we have a much more clear idea. Plus, then they would be ranked ahead of us not behind us.

I believe Bret and staff discern this too and will prepare for it decisively. We’ve proven we have plenty of skill and fire. We can expect great coaching and preparation will address those sleepy first halves. This is why we want to lead out the season with challenging nonconference games.

I agree. I am not discouraged by the Western Michigan game. We very well could have been using a less than robust scheme, to keep from showing all of our cards. That, coupled with Laughery and Rosiek out; we still won 38-0. We beat Duke 45-19 on the road.

There is always room for nitpicking, but I am feeling very good overall.

3 yrs ago if anyone would have predicted the marquee conference game of the week would be Illinois/Indiana a raid of your home would have been ordered to find your meth stash.

I'm loving it.
This same statement could be made virtually every year since about 1993. It would have been unfathomable.

I suspect we have been using only portions of the playbook. More of it against Duke than in the other 2 games. Also, the dedication to the run in the first half is annoying in the moment but seems to be paying dividends in the 2nd half as the opposite D is clearly wearing down as the game progresses. 2 yard gains, become 7 with an occasional 15 or 20 thrown in. I suspect Barry will go a little more against script earlier in the game this week. Still be true to what we do, but throw in a few more wrinkles earlier in the game.

we're the better team... as someone said, id rather be the underdog. Cignetti's team comes in amped up at home, and we come in flat, and we are playing from behind.
How would you rate Illinois as the better team? I do think Indiana is vastly superior offensively. We'll see.

Duke is better than Old Dominion, and we played them on the road. People are acting like Tulane is a bad program so there is no way Duke should have lost to them. Tulane is good team, and Duke played them on the road. I don't know if we'll win this game, but I do think playing at Duke will be a positive for us compared to Indiana's schedule thus far.
You are really slicing arguments thin by stating Duke is better than OD. Neither team is good in comparison to teams competing for CFP.

In Sagarin’s rating OD is 63 and Duke is 65. It’s a bad argument to give Illinois credit for playing Duke and say Indiana played nobody in OD. They are very similar quality teams.
