No matter what Duke does, I’ll never forget Coach K wasn’t retiring until after we gave him a 2 piece and a biscuit.

Now, in the smart part of my brain, I know that wasn’t the reason. But in the Illini fan part of my brain, Coach K retired because we whipped his !!!.

We moved on from Sarr when others opted to overpay and Andrej became available

Stoj: 21 years old, 3rd year P5 (averaged 18ppg at P5 school), cost about $2M
Sarr: 19 years old, zero P5 experience, cost nearly twice as much

Think that Duke "treating us like a scout team" worked out pretty well for us

We invested 3 million in NIL into Andrej. Given that he's already landed on the DL, we may want to wait until he proves that he can stay healthy through the physical play during the B1G season and be a 3-million-dollar-worthy contributor to our team before we judge how well things worked out. The same goes for the players we brought in who haven't played a single minute of college basketball.

~$2M for Andrej

He'll be back on the court in another week

As for 'not playing a single minute of college basketball'... you mean Dame Sarr, right? Andrej has played almost 2,000 minutes of P5 ball.

I think he was talking about Mirkovic and especially Petrovic, our supposed starting PG. I don't disagree with him but I think we will be OK.

He was, and in response I was pointing out how that same question applies to Dame Sarr while Stoj has 2 seasons under his belt and averaged 18ppg

Also, I think taking Stoj rather than Sarr allows you cap room to get one of those players (Mirkovic & Petrovic)

The league Petrovic & Mirkovic come from is very good. Older players, former college starter level players. I'm unsure why we'd question if they're ready for this type of environment when we see Tomi average 7 pts 3 rebs for SC Derby and then come over here and be one of the best centers in the B1G

I am not too worried myself, either, except I wonder whether these European guys had gotten mono before. :ROFLMAO: Stoj should be fine, too, as long as he is healthy.

Lil Jon Shots GIF by INTO ACTION

I previously burned that part of the season from memory, hope they're all getting vaccinations (or illness preventions) NOW

I would love to add an athletic PF who could rebound and defend to fill gap when we lost both Morez and Ty

Robert Bennett, Quincy Guerrier, Amani, ....

No. I mean Petrovic, Wagler, and the other players we're seeing a lot of hype about here who haven't yet played a minute of college basketball.
