It is astonishing the money that is professional sports. Here's a guy with 1 good season and a couple borderline average. He parlays that into a $100 million career.

Chiam Bloom news conference at 10am
Oli staying.
I was an Oli hater a couple years ago but this year’s roster stunk and he managed to win a lot more games than anyone could reasonably have expected.
There's actually been tons of friction between Mo and Marmol at times. For example at one point last season, Mo brought Walker back up from Memphis because he was doing well down there, Marmol kept benching him. Eventually Mo had to back down and send Walker back to Memphis so he'd get regular at bats.Is Bloom keeping Marmol as the manager, because he is still under contract? Or is he keeping him, because Bloom believes that he is the best manager for this situation? My uninformed opinion is that I would have thought Bloom would have wanted to make a strong statement by cutting ties with the previous regime. Many Cardinal fans view Marmol as a puppet of Mozeliak.
I think that's the strategy for now. The rebuild will continue in 2026 and with a work stoppage looming why pay a mgr that's not managing? Marmol's deal is up at the end of 26 so a new guy can be hired after that. No telling how much season may be missed in 2027. I hope common sense prevails between the players and the owners (not likely) and they get something done next winter to avoid all that.I think he's keeping him because he doesn't want to hire a new manager with a work stoppage looming in 2027.
Probably correct. However, a possible work stoppage is not stopping other teams from changing things around without having an eye on the possible lockout in 2027.I think he's keeping him because he doesn't want to hire a new manager with a work stoppage looming in 2027.
