I have a suspicion the way our guys bought in after the IU disaster they won't overlook someone so quickly after that. Early season disasters like that tend to stick around for a while. We may look back at the end of the year and realize that beat down was the best thing to happen to this team. Of course they coulda got there with a 21 point loss instead of 53 but the point still stands.

We need to have some guys who still remember the embarrassing loss at Purdue in 2023 making sure the team is motivated to make up for that. That loss cost us a bowl game that year and was one of the worst of Bielema's tenure. Luke especially struggled, so I hope he is ready to redeem himself.

Some seem concerned about Purdue because of how they played ND and USC. Just remember one of their two wins is 34-17 over SIU which is so far there only loss but has been a lower level mvfc div 2 program the last couple of years. If we go take care of business it should be a two touchdown win.

If the Titanic hadn't hit the iceberg, would it still have been a "disaster"?

I'll allow "near disaster."
it would’ve been hit by a German torpedo a few years later.

I’m not worried about fumbles. The RBs are arguably the second best position on the team after QB

Illini 37
Purdue 16. Defense plays ok but Purdue moves the ball and gets 3 field goals

100% agree with what you say.

And add that Feagin's fumble was NOT a fumble. Don't know what the replay officiating crew were looking at because the FOX TV coverage crew watched their sideline camera replay and pointed out in slow motion where Feagin was down and THEN the ball got strpped out. Watch it for yourself from the 6:30 to the 7:00 mark in this.
FOX USC vs. Illinois Game Highlights
This has been an entertaining back and forth but let’s not forget…as Illinir1 points out…
Can we quit calling the Feagin situation a fumble, already?

My one concern is that if the USC story about their team having played with food poisoning has a kernel of truth to it, maybe our o-line isn't quite as "back" as they appeared to be. We'll see.

Bowick's awesome, but calling him the second receiver is a stretch. He's 4th on the team in yards. The gap between Dixon (second) and Clement (third) is 120 yards. Dixon's honestly more close to being the #1 than the #3.
The stats just so everyone's aware: Beatty 383 yards, Dixon 241, Clemeny 121, Bowick 111.

And Bielema's answers always were "Hank Beatty, Colin Dixon" if we think back to the summer.

I think we all know how important this game is, with the Buckeyes looming next. We have to come focused and ready. OSU game will take care of itself when the time comes.
