I think Arkansas has ton of big money boosters, however it is one of the few schools with fingers in three pies for men with a strong baseball program.

Which is why this is so fun to see out in the open now!

- Yurachek (AD) is signaling hard that current support for football is not good enough and donors are going to have to up the ante, probably substantially, to field a competitive SEC football program. This has been an unprecedented breaking of the fourth wall by an AD, where lots of schools are constantly selling future hope to their boosters to convince them to keep giving money. Yurachek is now not selling hope, but trying to be the first to peddle fear.
- Yurachek is also likely doing this as a signal to Lashlee that he's going to push his donors to their absolute limit to get him the resources (it's the sell, now he has to deliver)
- Arkansas fans/donors also care a lot about basketball (especially a couple prominent donors) and baseball. Those folks are likely going to fight football from getting more resources because it means taking resources from them. Which means some donors hate Lashlee (not personally, but what stands for) and will seek the leverage to avoid his hiring.

i’m not surprised he is high on their list , but I will be shocked if they hire a guy without head coaching experience .

that list should be , in no particular order :
Lashlee
Traylor
Sumrall

I just don't know how you could give the keys to the program to someone without success in that role before .
Agree, different skill set than O or D coordinator. Need to wear a lot of hats.

I will still be calling for an O Line coaching change at the end of the season. Here's to hoping Bart can have us outside of the 10 worst sack rates in FBS by the end of the year.

Hey UW, I'm guessing Paul Chryst wasn't so bad huh?
Their biggest problem is a fan base with IDS -- Illini Derangement Syndrome. They can't get over the fact that Bielema has built a winner in Champaign. If Fickell loses to Bret in November, he'll get canned the next morning. Just like Chryst. Geographically so close to Illinois, but culturally so far away. A recipe for a huge inferiority complex.

They had a winning recipe, and their AD [and power donors] decided that Wisconsin was slipping. They hire Fickell, who revamps their offense, and due to the Ls, he aborts the plan. It's gonna be interesting to see this play out.

If Luke gets released, Chris McIntosh, shouldn't be making the new hire.

Firing Chryst was the right call. I give credit to McIntosh that he saw where things were headed and that Wisconsin football needed a jolt to keep their position in the B1G, or even take the next step. Fickell isn't the answer and the program slipped regardless.

The obvious hire was Jim Leonard. Could’ve carried on the unique Wisconsin style and, I suspect, be very successful. But the AD wanted something different… and he got it.

with Lunney being close with Bret I don’t see him going to Arkansas. Would you think Bret would advise against it?

If we were in the same position to hire Nate Scheelhaase as our head coach (alum, OC that had fairly good success), I would be a little ticked. Arkansas should be aiming higher than Lunney. That's no knock on Lunney. It's the reality of needing to pull someone that has proven themselves as a head coach or had a VERY long and successful tenure as a coordinator at a major program.

Is James Franklin s seat hot? Would hate to see it /s/

(actually only a little sarcasm, he's one of those guys that I think if ,he stays in his spot, it helps Illinois)
if you read a PSU fan board , it’s red hot
not sure how true that is . supposedly, his buyout is over 55 million . so who knows how hot his seat really is

I have often thought of Franklin as a perfect replacement for Kirk Ferentz at Iowa. So, if KF retires, it might be something JF pursues.
