The pitching finally broke. This staff was being held together with spit, tape and glue. There's just nothing left.
Brewers went 6-0 against them in the regular season. Not enough hitting either. On the bright side the Dodgers will beat these guys. I guess that’s a bright side,
Yes.Is it agreed that a loss tonight is about it for the season?
You and Grandpa aren't comparing this team to the 2016 team, are you?Did you ask this before game 4 against Cleveland in 2016?
Edit: It seems this point has reached redundancy.![]()
I don’t know how Cubs are going to win game 4 (that’s right, Cubs are winning game 3), but if they do I start Rea in game 5.I would like to have seen Rea get a shot for game one
Taillon is our best starter right now with Horton on the shelf. He will have 5 days rest so he should be ready. Game 4 will have Boyd on 4 days rest then I would have no choice but to start Rea game 5. But it’s all hands on deck as Brown could get a couple if needed. If JT can get to 6 innings tomorrow with the lead, then we could use him for an inning in game 5 if needed. It’s not over yetI don’t know how Cubs are going to win game 4 (that’s right, Cubs are winning game 3), but if they do I start Rea in game 5.
RIP 2025Yes.
Based on what?I don’t know how Cubs are going to win game 4 (that’s right, Cubs are winning game 3), but if they do I start Rea in game 5.
Of course not. This team doesn't have a frontline SP like Arrieta, Hendricks, or Lester. You and Grandpa aren't comparing this team to the 2016 team, are you?
Based upon Shota having an 8.10 ERA in 6.2 innings of playoff ball with a WHIP of 1.50 and 3 surrendered HRs versus Rea having an ERA of 0.00 and WHIP of 1.40 in 5 innings. Add in Rea having a 2.63 ERA in Sept with a WHIP of 0.92 WHIP while Shota had a 6.51 ERA with WHIP of 1.26 and 10 HRs given up in those 5 games.Based on what?
Fair enough. Was going to say that this team doesn't have a "stopper" starting pitcher so I don't anticipate a full comeback but I can see them winning Wednesday.Of course not. This team doesn't have a frontline SP like Arrieta, Hendricks, or Lester.
Essentially trying to channel the classic Yogi Berra-ism, "It's not over 'til it's over," which is true, regardless of the team on the field.
Rea should have started game 1. Shota has been great, but he is toast right now.Based upon Shota having an 8.10 ERA in 6.2 innings of playoff ball with a WHIP of 1.50 and 3 surrendered HRs versus Rea having an ERA of 0.00 and WHIP of 1.40 in 5 innings. Add in Rea having a 2.63 ERA in Sept with a WHIP of 0.92 WHIP while Shota had a 6.51 ERA with WHIP of 1.26 and 10 HRs given up in those 5 games.
Yes, Shota was better against Brewers during regulation season, but not exactly dominating. If you have to use Rea in relief to win game 3 and 4, then obviously you do it. But otherwise go with the “hot” pitcher.
That would have been only two days rest if started game 1 I think, though think he only pitched 1.2 innings. Still, I would have gone with Boyd game 1 and Rea game 2.Rea should have started game 1. Shota has been great, but he is toast right now.
So the Dodgers are due then and they're obviously getting hot at the right time. We won the season series against the Brewers, look how much that's meant now...Brewers went 6-0 against them in the regular season.
I hate both teams.
Not fun fact: They haven't scored more than 3 runs in 12 playoff games. You have to score more than 3 runs a game to win this time of year, and we can't... so at least we can't blame it all on the pitching.
Saw that stat. Not meant as an attack on you for posting that, but I find those kind of stats/facts pretty silly. Who from the 2025 roster was on the 2017 team when that streak started? Maybe Happ? Not fun fact: They haven't scored more than 3 runs in 12 playoff games.
My mistake. The correct number is 13.Saw that stat. Not meant as an attack on you for posting that, but I find those kind of stats/facts pretty silly. Who from the 2025 roster was on the 2017 team when that streak started? Maybe Happ?
If I’m not mistaken, those two are also common threads to the only WS championship in our lifetimes too. Just as that team has nothing to do this team’s performance nor does the 2020 or 2017.My mistake. The correct number is 13.
Yes, only Happ was on the roster. But who are the other common threads? HOYER and RICKETTS !!!!!!
I guess they are still on a 9 year honeymoon period. Great job at the deadline guys ! Can't wait until 2032.If I’m not mistaken, those two are also common threads to the only WS championship in our lifetimes too. Just as that team has nothing to do this team’s performance nor does the 2020 or 2017.
Now if you’re really looking for a culprit to blame, it should be the new baby blue uniforms. You do realize the Cubs have never won a World Series title when baby blue uniforms have been a regular part of the rotation.![]()
