how can you not given the job he’s done there in less than 20 monthsY'all can crucify me if you want, but I was hoping Cignetti would stay at Indiana. Yes, I said it. I would love for IU-UI to become the new osu- scUM rivalry. Also, I wanted someone to turn the big names down and rub it in their faces. Sure he has lots of rea$on$ to stay, but perhaps this points to a new playing field regarding the top schools poaching coaches from others schools at will. To be honest, I begrudgingly kinda like the guy.
ahhhIt just shows the cursed nature of this program that while we finally seem like we’re building something sustainable, the one program that’s been even more of a doormat hits the lottery.
if I’m PSU, i’m going all in on Urban MeyerI was hoping Cigs would leave, but I figured he'd stay at IU until the end. He gets paid a lot of money and gets to build his own legacy.
And I would be surprised if Kiffen left the south, but who knows with that guy.
I have to assume PSU had some feelers out before they fired Franklin. Just diving into this without any real interest from some big-time coaches would be such a dumb move. Maybe they end up with Jimbo Fisher or Brian Kelly; I wouldn't hate that.
Just imagine if you are Purdue. You get two doormats in Illinois and Indiana as your protected rivals you play every year and they both become national powers. It just shows the cursed nature of this program that while we finally seem like we’re building something sustainable, the one program that’s been even more of a doormat hits the lottery.

What if it isn’t “luck”ahhh
something tells me things revert back to some sense of normalcy there . you can’t keep getting “lucky” in the portal every stinking year

Team wise... he'll always keep them top 25, likely better than that most years. What if it isn’t “luck”
Very well deserved…Both are getting the job done…And it’s good for the B1G.Well deserved … Glad he’s staying at Indiana …
Sexton getting the job done …
More I think about, most coaching tenures last 5 years or less. Indiana will be in a far better position when they need their next coach.Interesting roll of the dice. Is Cignetti really coaching into his mid-70's?
I still think what has happened there could potentially be lightning in a bottle. I'm sure many disagree, but he's only been there a season and a half.
I do think it's fitting though, as he strikes me as the Bobby Knight of college football.
Until the last few years, I had similar thoughts about our Power 4 nonconference games. Both teams would be on a similar level during scheduling, then the other team would be ranked or just outside the top 25 come gameday.Just imagine if you are Purdue. You get two doormats in Illinois and Indiana as your protected rivals you play every year and they both become national powers.
