I’m guessing the coaches urged the refs to call more fouls given there were no foul outs. Great way to prepare the guys for life in the B1G.

I keep a friend updated via email about what is happening with the Illinois basketball team, and a lot of the information I send comes from here, IL. I sent the following around the first week of October. I don’t think much or anything has been posted about Ty since then. I am just going to copy and paste. I think people can figure it out. I don’t use any of the insiders' IL aliases; I just refer to them as “insider”.

insider 1: There's growing confidence that Ty will play the majority of Big Ten play this season.
Insider 2 responding to Insider 1: Have heard the same … Have seen the same with him shooting and doing light work … He’s been attacking rehab like a man on a mission.

non-insider, posted this around the first week of October, "Rodgers has a torn patellar tendon.". I don't know how this person knows this, considering how secretive everyone with the Illinois program has been about the exact nature of the injury (also, I wonder if the poster is violating HIPAA law), but an insider did not dispute it and actually added this, "Partially torn … And it happened in June … Timeline he got was 6-12 months … He’s on track for an early recovery as of now …

Someone made a comment about "if Ty comes back," and the insider replied with, "Word I continue to hear is when … Not if …"

I agree. I think you are right, this is the best five (although it might be a little premature with just one exhibition game played). But I think BenH will be the starter, at least for the early part of the season. It’s his second year, and reports are that he is more comfortable and confident playing. He may know the system better and has played one year in the Big Ten. He has put on more muscle and, again, reports are that he has put in a lot of work on his game. BU has talked highly of his improvement. Also, BU sent him as a replacement for Tomi to Big Ten Media Days, and I think that is an indication of how BU feels about him. Although I am not sure who else he could have sent, maybe Ty.

I believe Ty told Werner and maybe others on media day.

Btw HIPPA would not apply to a reporter it would apply to a healthcare professional disclosing that info. without authorization.

wagler may have had a great summer and he played fine in the exhibition but it didn't exactly match the hype we been hearing. it's only one game and he played fine, I'm excited to see where he will be.

Agree with Petrovic, Boswell, Stojakovic, Mirkovic and Tomi Ivisic as Illini best 5, with Zvonimir Ivisic, Wagler, Humrichous, Davis, Lee and Stakstys as backups (in that order). I want to see the best players (and player combinations) on the court. I believe this is a deep and very talented team. Wagler is said to be possible starter but don't see how he could beat out Petrovic or Stojakovic, much less Boswell. Humrichous is a definite step IMO, behind Mirkovic and Zvonimir.

I am of the opinion that we are way underestimating the expected contribution of Ben Humrichous this campaign.
Nicely Fletched, newly engaged, fills a position of need, comfortable in the system...the stars have aligned.

For our produced press conferences, we provide broadcast quality video and audio, which is tested and approved by the TV and radio outlets that are present each time before we begin. We also have a shotgun mic that we use to capture the reporters’ questions at football, and we pass mics to the reporters at basketball.

However, there are also several media outlets in attendance who record the pressers on their phone, thus not taking the audio feed from the mult box. If you are watching one of their videos, the audio quality will not be as good as what we provide. But that baby face and high school build makes me wince when I think of the grown a** men he will face with this year's schedule.

We will see what he is made of.

That would be nice, but we've got plenty of big guns this year, just need decent d & rebounding, 40% from 3, maybe a little bootie ball, and I'm plenty happy.

OTOH hope Mirk starts over Ben because he is consistently better

Riley didn’t have the baby face, but he did have the high school build. That’s not to say Wagler will be as good as Riley his freshman year or ever, but Riley did adjust nicely as the season progressed.

Thanks for doing that! I believe, always stressing believe on anything I post on the internet, is that HIPPA only applies to medical professionals? My wife is an ARNPA and that is what she has been taught?

It would be great to have him back, but it stinks for the kid to miss so much over the last 2 years
