Welcome to the Coaching Carousel thread
If I am PERSONALLY a coach and had my pick of this list (not ranking smaller programs I know nothing about)...
Florida ... It literally shocks me how people act like UF is a clear cut below LSU in a lot of conversations I've seen. They're the favored team in a massive state that has more high school talent than you could ever even offer, the fan support is great, the money is there and the tradition is there. It's one of those jobs like Illinois Basketball (in my biased opinion!) where the quality of the JOB is even higher than the quality of that program's tradition.
LSU ... I might have put them #1 before learning about the weird politics (heh heh) with the governor's office and that there is no AD, lol. However, all of the "built-in" pieces are obviously there, from fan support, tradition, facilities, recruiting footprint, etc.
Penn State ... The top three are all good, but I think PSU fans will fire anyone they have to until they luck into becoming on par with OSU and Michigan ... I am not getting in line!
Virginia Tech ... If they could offer top notch NIL in spite of being outside of the Power Two, I might even move them up further. Some folks are surprised to find out they're the preferred team in much of the DC Area (at least VA side) and the vast majority of that large state, and the expectations wouldn't be delusional.
Arkansas ... Fans seem to expect to break into that upper tier of the SEC, and there is just zero evidence historically that they should feel that way. NIL is a plus, but I personally think this job is a sort of "trap," lol.
Auburn ... Good spot, but my impression is that the expectations don't match reality.
Oklahoma State ... Assuming they still have some NIL money to spend with the right regime in place. Fan support and loyalty is a huge plus.
UCLA ... Somehow underrated with how much everyone hates on it, but the athletic department in general seems like a mess.
Stanford ... Academic restrictions plus outside of the Power Two.
Oregon State ... Sucks to say, but they're getting left behind.
