That was the craziest/most small town football ending I have ever seen, lol. Calhoun craps it away and then BC tried to TWICE! Couldn't believe the botched kickoff return, the 4th down Hail Mary TD, the roughing the kicker to actually stuffing them on the half yard line! Gotta love it!
From the looks of it, Rochester and Breese had a crazy finish as well.

More highlights, forgot that there was a goalline strip fumble on Calhoun's first drive. The kickoff fumble was at :45

Better look at the stuffed 2pt conversion

So only 2 public schools in the 5A-8A championships....
It's a problem, no doubt about it. Not much that can really be done unless any team that can recruit is eliminated from state tournament play and the Catholic Leagues get together and have a separate tournament.

It'll never happen, but it's the only real solution. The playing field just isn't even.

It's always been an issue, but it seems that the playing field has shifted significantly in the past few years, with this year being a little crazy.

Some of the talent private schools have assembled is crazy. I know nothing will ever be done, but it ruins the enjoyment when you know that unless a public school has generational talent, their run will end with a loss - assuming they are class 5A or above and their name isn't East St Louis.

We're seeing the same thing in college sports for certain leagues vs all others, so I guess it shouldn't be surprising it's bleeding into high school sports.

Off topic, I know, but I have a question for those in the know: do they get a ton of kids from out of district, or do they have something in the water down there?

And if they have that many crazy athletes, why has the hoops program fallen off so much?
Well one of their RBs is from Decatur via DeSoto, TX...

They have a lot of money funneling into that program. Don't ask how.

Oswego's youth football league is second to none and that town keeps growing. Even more impressive considering all the large enrollment DuPage/Will Co schools nearby. Insane how far they've come after reclassing up to 8A

Mount Carmel has 14 D1 players on the field. If super teams of that caliber are being formed at some point these non-boundary teams need their own division.

How is it a super team. This is basically the same team that won 7a last year. They added 1 big transfer. They also lost a transfer OL that has D1 offers
