I think they chickened out on leaving out the ACC entirely.Yeah that is strange that they swapped with Miami

Wow. Political statement that ND needs to join a conference or schedule better teams. I’m just surprised that it comes now
You could not put ND in over Miami. Miami literally beat ND.I think they chickened out on leaving out the ACC entirely.
Yes. They penalized BYU for losing a conference championship game but not AlabamaIt's hilarious that they have these weekly ranking releases, make a massive to-do about them, and then they are utterly meaningless the following week.
Miami literally lost to Louisville and Virginia. ND has a better resume overall, and it's not particularly close. You could not put ND in over Miami. Miami literally beat ND.
The problem is that they scheduled good teams and they are affiliated with, ostensibly, a P4 conference. They only played 2 non-P4 teams.Wow. Political statement that ND needs to join a conference or schedule better teams. I’m just surprised that it comes now
By 3 points, at home, in week 1? By that logic SMU should be in over Miami, Texas in over Oklahoma, etc etc. H-2-H should be a very minor factor, not the overriding consideration. You could not put ND in over Miami. Miami literally beat ND.
Miami beat them head to head. Plus ND's schedule after September was crap. I wonder if our Illini would have gotten in if they had beaten Washington & Wiscy and ended up 10-2? Illini beat two conference champions, Western Michigan & Duke!Yeah that is strange that they swapped with Miami
Apparently they only considered head to head if teams are ranked in consecutive spots. Last week BYU was between ND and Miami so head to head was not factored in. With BYU dropping it now brought head to head between ND and Miami into play. The problem is that they scheduled good teams and they are affiliated with, ostensibly, a P4 conference. They only played 2 non-P4 teams.
The only justification is the one H-2H matchup, in week 1, that Miami won by 3 points at home. Pretty weak reason to flip their rankings at the last second.
I don’t blame them for dropping outIowa State (8-4) and Kansas State (6-6) opt out of playing a bowl game
Don’t have any strong opinions about this either way but the committee should have swapped their rankings when these two teams played their last games. I know the whole picture matters and the teams that these two teams play continue to earn wins and losses but if it really just came down to a head to head match they already had that data. You could not put ND in over Miami. Miami literally beat ND.
I can only hope that we would have bumped a 3 loss Bama.Miami beat them head to head. Plus ND's schedule after September was crap. I wonder if our Illini would have gotten in if they had beaten Washington & Wiscy and ended up 10-2? Illini beat two conference champions, Western Michigan & Duke!
Seems like an overly specific and narrow post-hoc justification to me.Apparently they only considered head to head if teams are ranked in consecutive spots. Last week BYU was between ND and Miami so head to head was not factored in. With BYU dropping it now brought head to head between ND and Miami into play.
Weird. I 100% disagree...H-2-H should be a very minor factor, not the overriding consideration.
The inconsistency with that logic is that Alabama wasn't dropped for losing, but BYU was. Alabama got bumped over ND last week for squeaking by a terrible Auburn team, and then didn't drop from getting blasted by a good Georgia team.Apparently they only considered head to head if teams are ranked in consecutive spots. Last week BYU was between ND and Miami so head to head was not factored in. With BYU dropping it now brought head to head between ND and Miami into play.
I would think ND gets a NY day gameIllini and Notre Dame in Nashville?????? Or do the whining Irish decline any bowl bid now?
B12 not equal to the big 2Yes. They penalized BYU for losing a conference championship game but not Alabama
Totally agree. A reward for the seniors and additional practices for returning players. That alone is worth it.I have never, and will never, understand why a school would willingly decline playing in a bowl game...
Logic and the NCAA have long been enemies. The inconsistency with that logic is that Alabama wasn't dropped for losing, but BYU was. Alabama got bumped over ND last week for squeaking by a terrible Auburn team, and then didn't drop from getting blasted by a good Georgia team.
