1988 v Florida someone I had never heard of named Emmitt Smith ran for 159 yards on 28 carries.
I was there. We had a little trouble dealing with Mr Smith.

Game note: There were some elderly Illini fans sitting behind us. And they thought they had come up with the catchiest chant ever:

We love your orange
We love your blue
But Gators are green
You dumb doo doos!!!

And they said it like 200 times during the game. Great memories.

I don't think the school allotment has went on sale yet. Could wait and see what Illinois is charging for seats
UI is charging 110 for lower bowl. I fund priority determines where you sit. I'm an IFund donor, but I didn't want to chance being so low on the priority points that I wouldn't like the seats. Especially, if there is high demand via the university and the tickets move up to the next level.
I didn't want to chance it, so I went ahead and bought some lower level tickets. Section 131.

Always surprised when I see this list how few SEC teams we actually have played.

And as an old-timer, that '82 Bama loss still gets to me, one of the most unique games you'll ever see. Was Bear Bryant's last game which made it a huge national story, Mike White was just starting to build what became as big of a Illini fan interest as we've seen (see 70,000 plus at Memorial Stadium), and that game would likely have been an Alabama loss if not for Kris Jenner replacing an injured Tony Eason for three plays and throwing interceptions on all three. Just as wild of a game for a "minor" bowl game as you'll see.
Coldest game I've ever attended. The halftime show took 4ever.

Opt outs for both sides will determine a lot. Players have to make the decision for themselves.

I think bowl games need to figure out a way to pay and insure the players since they invest so much money.
Even if the draft-bound guys want to sit out, getting those practices/game reps are valuable for the younger guys. Give the coaches a reason to not recruit over you in the portal

I won’t spend a penny until I know which players are opting out.

I will be getting tickets this week. It can get very cold in late Dec in Nashville. My three brothers were Sammys. It was a long time ago. My older brother is getting me a ticket to go. Looking forward to the game. Plan on hearing Rocky Top over and over. Like hearing the Michigan song over and over again. I went to Ill State. I am about 2 and half hours away. Should be a good game. If Luke does not play would love to see Boyd get a chance to play to show his ability. Go Illini.

Illini 5.5 pt. underdog with 61.5 pt over/under. Not going to be a defensive slugfest.

In all seriousness, did Jelly Roll know something we didn't last night? On the basketball broadcast, he said something to the effect of "we'll see these guys again." Kind of an odd comment to make when the chances of Illinois and Tennessee meeting at some point in the NCAA Tournament are pretty small. Is it possible he had insider knowledge and was referring to the bowl game?
