No way on God’s green Earth would I bet you on that. I’d be shocked if it hasn’t already happened.$100 says Lane has already called his people
I'm sure it's still a thing for teams like Georgia Southern. It never was a thing for the blue bloods.https://www.footballscoop.com/2025/12/10/potential-michigan-wolverines-coaching-candidates
"While Manuel cannot control the alleged behaviors of Moore, or the refusal of Jim Harbaugh to cooperate with the NCAA, or Connor Stalions massively complex cheating ring, or the need to conduct an investigation into alleged computer crimes as the school's firing former offensive coordinator Matt Weiss, these all are just recent examples of football scandals unfolding at Michigan in an athletics department under Manuel's purview."
The textbook definition of lack of institutional control, if that was still a thing.
Surpassed only by Sweet Caroline at Penn Staye after the Sandusky thing. Now they're talking about implementing a hiatus in playing Mr. Brightside over the stadium speakers for a few years. Lmao.
Also for schools where they investigate for 18 months, find virtually nothing, and have to justify what they did.I'm sure it's still a thing for teams like Georgia Southern. It never was a thing for the blue bloods.
ND is *always* (nearly) going to be guaranteed a berth ... The CFP is a media event... it's NOT a tournament to decide which team is actually the 'best' for a given year... It's a made for TV product that needs to draw a large audience, so the networks can sell ads, so the money can be given out to schools via the media contracts... ND draws audiences - they have great PR/Spin doctors who have talked up their brand for 40+ years, just like the SEC has done... ND attracts advertising money... That's why the CFP people like them...Ok, but they'd essentially be guaranteed a berth every year in in that scenario.
There's a reason why they're able to negotiate their way into a top 12 guarantee no one else has...

Notre Dame has 2026 College Football Playoff assurance and the schedule is embarrassingly favorable
A change in Notre Dame's relationship with the CFP committee should bode well for next season's playoff hopeswww.cbssports.com
We could all laugh at his firing, but this has taken a dark turn. Now that more details have emerged, it seems like these are separate and sequenced incidents.
(1) UM fires Moore following investigation, then
(2) Moore commits assault and is arrested
Had a dream job and then it's just gone. I explicitly do not condone anything he did, but it's enough to make you snap when you feel like, in this moment, your life as you know it is over.We could all laugh at his firing, but this has taken a dark turn.
I think DeBoer & Freeman are who they are going after . with a heavy emphasis on DeBoerI think Brohm would be my number one choice. He's won everywhere without the resources that Michigan has to offer.
