NET is just another advanced stats database like Kenpom.I would love to know exactly how NET works
Iowa is 0-2 in Q1 games and just moved ahead of Illinois to the #12 spot
NET is just another advanced stats database like Kenpom.
It doesn’t rank anyone based on their resume (quad # wins/losses) just how good it thinks a team is.
Same, there was some public (but generic) description of the algorithm awhile ago but they’ve tweaked it since then. Was just saying I’d like to be privy to the actual algorithm
While I can agree with your logic, there is a certain amount of glee that I get watching us beat them up on the court and send them back to their trailer park in Columbia. After last night's Braggin' Rights beatdown, the Illini move from #13 to #10 in the NET, with Missouri dropping from #67 to #92.Always nice to have that trophy, but it's looking like Mizzou will end up being a Quad 3 win as they eventually fall out of the top 100 ... because that was a terrible basketball team, lol. On that note, we really need Missouri to stabilize as a program. Not only do I want that rivalry to return to national prominence (e.g., being on FOX or ESPN every other year rather than FS1 and SEC Network...), but we are married to playing Mizzou at a neutral site every year ... it's just a raw deal for us if they are going to be a Quad 3 opponent this often.
Yeah let’s route for Mizzou to stay a quad 2 win for the resume, but not get good enough to start stealing dudes from our backyard. While I can agree with your logic, there is a certain amount of glee that I get watching us beat them up on the court and send them back to their trailer park in Columbia.
Recruiting isn't connected to performance. Check their '26 class - it might be the reason Gates sticks around.Yeah let’s route for Mizzou to stay a quad 2 win for the resume, but not get good enough to start stealing dudes from our backyard.
The power move would be to replace one of the buy games with a real opponent and say we're getting a buy game experience playing Mizzou. ? for you. With Miznoz being in the SEC and playing 11 of the top 55 NET teams as of now, assuming they lose a lot of those games, would their net continue to rise? Obviously if they win they will jump up but if they lose, could their NET continue to fall and actually be a Quad 3?After last night's Braggin' Rights beatdown, the Illini move from #13 to #10 in the NET, with Missouri dropping from #67 to #92.Always nice to have that trophy, but it's looking like Mizzou will end up being a Quad 3 win as they eventually fall out of the top 100 ... because that was a terrible basketball team, lol. Folks were complaining preseason about the non con, asking for more cupcakes...we just didn't know Mizzou was one of them. Local kid, Ty Pence, is playing really well this season for the Redbirds.Fun fact: Illinois State is 63 right now. Missouri is 92. Our exhibition was tougher...lol
Point being that a 4 and 10 have roughly the same chance. More efforts like the Mizzou game and we can hopefully move up a couple seed lines. But being the 5th highest Big10 seed hopefully is not our ceiling.Latest bracketmatrix has us as the last 4 seed. From the discussion between Neb and mizzou you wouldve thought we were a 10 seed or some s*** LOL
Nebraska a 3 seed...

ISU, when at full strength is legitimately good and would be a Quad 1 road win. They were without two starters when we rolled out the ball in the practice game. Mizzou is just awful, BUT they were also missing a couple of important players. Let's hope they stay under 100.Fun fact: Illinois State is 63 right now. Missouri is 92. Mizzou had an off night when we had an on night, plus they were down a couple players.ISU, when at full strength is legitimately good and would be a Quad 1 road win. Also small sample size of games, so the 40 point demolition really hurts their stats when in reality, they just played one heck of a clunker assuming that’s not a weekly occurrence.Mizzou had an off night when we had an on night, plus they were down a couple players.
I'm guessing they will improve and be a Quad 2 for us.

Was that his point?
Enough please. One guy makes one post and now ‘everything is back to normal’.The part that's interesting to me is that if 4 & 10 have roughly the same chance... then why was this forum basically scorched Earth for 9 days while we were a sitting on a 5 seed and suddenly everything is back to normal now that we're a 4? Seems disingenuous to imply we'd be just as happy (or unhappy, whichever world you choose to live in) with a 10 seed as we would with a 4 seed.

We get the point, anyone with a contrary opinion must be beaten down repeatedly, until submission is achieved.
Moving on to Southern and Tennessee.

Enough of what? I thought it was interesting that he says a 4 and a 10 are equivalent in his eyes and that is disingenuous in my opinion, because clearly this board was having a mass anxiety attack over being a 5 yet now we’re a 4 which is so much better.
Guess it’s all cool for you to lash out though, good grief, why don’t you go sit on the porch and have a banana or something, geez.
