Obviously Olano made some big kicks. Personally I would rather have more money go towards a position that’s on the field a few plays a game.
That said, kickers account for 30% of a football's teams score on average each game. That seems to warrant a decent amount of money on a player that only plays a few plays a game. That said, good for Olano 💰, IMO he does not have the leg strength for today's NFL so make that cash now

More evidence things are out of control:

Washington quarterback Demond Williams Jr. said on social media Tuesday night that he is entering the transfer portal, a move that comes just days after he agreed to return to the Huskies for the 2026 season.

"I have to do what is best for me and my future," Williams wrote.’

Why is nothing being done to go all in NFL contract, salary cap etc? Just how much can wealthy boosters dump into the system? Why shouldn’t coaches and schools have stability (as in multi year contracts etc)? If the NFL sees the wisdom of structure etc, why can’t college football?

This is a very well reasoned, balanced take, and for that it is my personal responsibility, as a card holding member of Loyalty, to tell you you are simply wrong.

Things have been done. It cost the NCAA several BILLIONS of dollars in lawsuits. The federal court system ruled the ideas you are suggesting are very very illegal.

I'll go a step further, who cares. Kickers are more replaceable. Than good defensive players and Offensive. Move on. Building 1 and 2's on entire roster is imperative. Finally, pay DCoordinator 2 million and go get him. Oline and TE coach. These 2 aren't replaced I will vomit.

The rumors are that UW offered him $4 million and LSU offered $6 million. Looks like UW legal is already on the warpath!
I'm sure this isn't a popular take here but I'd rather be a team that goes to a good/great bowl most years with a locker room I felt was full of Illini guys, than...whatever LSU is (which, turns out this year was a mediocre team that didn't win their mediocre bowl). Call me crazy, old school, and out of touch, but thanks but no thanks on this type of player.

The market is much hotter this year but there are few good offensive linemen. Iowa grabbed one of the few today with the freshman with JMU. Brunner has less eligibility but is better. It's going to be expensive.

The courts ruled that two parties cannot enter an agreement without the courts' consent.

Because the NCAA still doesn’t want to classify these athletes as employees

Is this why many are pressing for congressional action?
It's an easy way for politicians to score a few easy political points by then acting like they can implement ways to fix it, but they too probably can't do anything about it.

Schools wouldn't want to force a player to play. If there was some way to force the other school to buy out the contract of the player it would at least be some duct tape on the problem.

I don't suspect that we will ever see a real fix though.
