I think that the offense gave up at halftime at Washington. We did not prevent them from scoring ONE time.

Surely a defensive loss, and a very embarrassing one.... you would agree our weak defense lost that one wouldn't you?

Once it becomes settled law that will go down. I haven't seen someone make a compelling legal argument that the punitive damages will stand. Not sure if the house settlement changes that.

The school they're going to is paying them big $ and it's highly likely they would help support in the event of a suit.
Organizations and companies go to lengths to avoid litigation. It’s a major hassle. I think you way overestimate a schools eagerness to get in a lawsuit over a portal QB. They would move to the next best option that doesn’t involve a lawsuit. Sounds like what is happening here if you read articles about the situation.

I think players are worried about being sued This is how you limit NIL transfers. You need to pay money to make a player to want to sign but you have to live with paying players who don’t turn out to be good.

“The decision to transfer sent a ripple of shock through college sports, as it became a flashpoint for the validity of contracts. Sources at Washington made clear to ESPN that the university was pursuing legal options to enforce Williams' contract”

Ha, is the argument really that an SEC school is going to avoid a dumpster fire lawsuit festival when college football is involved?

Outcomes be damned, that seems... ahistorical.

As I’ve said in about half a dozen posts over the last day, players aren’t going to just be able to break contracts with no recourse or consequence. World don’t work like that. This played out exactly as such.

So are we going to go with the usc model next year all offense and just hope our defense can get a stop or 2?not trying to be negative but he was 1 of the true brightspots on the dline.i really hope Brett has something up his sleeve because dline is expensive in the portal and we need alot not just starters but also depth
That was pretty much the defense against any offense with a pulse this year.

And the solution to that issue is to recruit players from random smaller conferences around the country and let them be deployed by the same coordinator??

Where is that poster who could play center? I bet he could get at least 1 sack.

Forget it I've got 4 years of eligibility and I've played NG before. I'm in the portal. First 2 clips are semi pro but no worries never signed a NFL contract. After those highlights are at NG ZB vs Lake Forest which had....Miles Smith at RB. Lovie and (I believe) Urlacher were in the stands.

Think they ran off Rusk's original ranking when he first transferred here(which was a good get) then ran off his measurables. These scouts are clowns... Trust in our staff for evals. In Brett we trust. I-L-L

Big time get!!

I agree.

The problems is a lot of teams are going to land "Big time gets!!" as hundreds (thousands?) of portal players move from one team to another.

So, are we really getting ahead, . . . or behind?

Personally, I'm not too worried about it.

So far, Coach B seems to embrace the challenge and has done quite well in the portal era.

What’s interesting about the NIL deals:

There’s two aspects, the rev share provided by the school. This money is guaranteed. And then the NIL money that’s “projected” by the team through the “open market”.

So when you see a $4 million NIL deal, a million of that might be guaranteed through rev share and the remaining $3 million is simply what a player could make, but these deals haven’t actually been approved yet.

And as of September, only around 44% of NIL dollars get approved through NIL Go. Which means that the $4 million NIL deal is really worth ~$2.5 million.

What investment..? Can't think we were paying him that much, and we gave him a platform to display his skills... if the kid wants to make a terrible decision(imo) by chasing instant $, then so be it. Grass ain't always greener. Kinda slow first step off the ball if you ask me. I do wish him well tho unless he's playing us!

I would not pay 3.5 million dollars for Sorsby that's absolutely wild.

Tech paying him 5 mil is just insanity.

I will take delight in these teams trying to pay their way to a Championship still being statistically unlikely to ever win one.
