All players get rent money (and food). Most/all players get additional money. I’m guessing he is in the $25k to $75k range (i don’t know how good he is other than a P2 LS)
25K -75K for a long snapper ? really ?
I would think on the low side of that, but I really am not plugged in to "prices"

How much is a win worth? Olano’s leg was the difference in at least 2 of our 9 wins this year. Were those worth $200 each?

I know it’s not that simple, but blockers win and lose games for teams all the time. If you got a good, consistent one, hard to see him go elsewhere.
The problem with this logic is that it assumes a replacement kicker would not make those kicks. OK, the USC game he makes a 41-yard kick to win the game. That's not a chip shot, but in college football it's probably about a 70% success rate on those. Olano went 7/8 on those this season, so an 87.5% success rate. So the difference between Olano and an average kicker is about 17.5%. So if that win is worth $200k, Olano's value in that game above an average kicker is maybe $35k. But also keep in mind, it's not like he won the game single handed. A lot of other players had to make plays to put him in a position to make that kick.

Against Tennessee, Olano had 3 FGs within 30 yards. Yes, he is probably more reliable on those than your average NCAA kicker, but even your average kicker should be making those. In fact, there were at least 4 Big Ten kickers who were more reliable on FGs in the 20-29 range than Olano (I'm only counting those with equal or more attempts, but there were also several others who were 100% on fewer attempts), and 2 that were more reliable in the 30-39 range (ditto).

Olano is a very good kicker, which is why he got the bag he got. But if you look around you can see that he is not some irreplaceable unicorn.

He seems to be receptive to every new offer I don’t know if it’s a ploy or for real.

And our D line played like we raided the players off a 5-7 team.

I don't know if we want to run it back with a 4-8 team's Oline that was only marginally better than ours in pass pro (2.46 vs 2.25 sacks per game) and generated 35 less rushing YPG?
Brunner is an All BIG guard and former 4 star. Hefty statement to claim he wouldn’t be an upgrade.

Without trying to do a 2- deep right now, I'm looking at what are priorities are in the portal, here's my sense:

Need a starter
1) Edge rusher - we have Barna and Daniel Brown at OLB, but I would think the staff is looking for an experience edge rusher to be a difference maker
2) FS - I literally have no idea who would play the Miles Scott role right now, so we need an experienced FS
3) WLB - I don't think we had anyone in the 3 deep that is still here, so we need someone to fill this role
4) DL - we have McCullom, Farrell and Janki, but it's thin with experience after that, I would think the staff wants one starting caliber player here
5) P and K - I don't know how the staff feels about the current players Osada and Rau for these roles, but I would imagine they ware looking for an experienced replacement at both roles

Priority Depth
1) WR
2) SS
3) CB- we have Morris, Juice and Heckel, but we definitely need depth behind that and maybe even a starter for the NB

There are other areas we need depth, but let me know if others agree on the priorities right now

I think it's safe to say he's already gone, but in this day and age of portal-hunting for QBs, it's not a death knell for the Illini program.

I hope today will be more active than yesterday. The portal season is very short now and you can't waste any days. I know they are trying really hard, but we have to nail down a lot of these top targets of theirs.
I'm guessing here, but I suspect Coach B kept the announcements to minimum to give Bailey the spotlight

what ever happened to a signed contract being a legal binding document ?...........

crazy world we live in now..........it really really is...................
That’s what I don’t understand. It has to be that the schools either had crappy contracts, which I doubt, or they don’t want to go after the athletes. One case that rules the athlete has to honor the contract gets this sorted out. Who will do it first?
