Which I said yes we do have enough

Which is great, but the downside is that 90+% of the top portal DLs have committed/signed to other schools so unless we're grabbing someone from IU/Miami, the pickings are pretty slim. And, we can likely use 1-2 starting caliber DL

Let me know when the NCAA start playing regular season games in January - prior to the end of transfer season and prior to both spring practice and summer camp. Our rosters isn't complete and no one has every seen the transfers coming in play. The kid from Bowling Green only played 174 snaps last year but he had a 76 PFF which is materially higher than any player that transferred out.
This is what I’m saying. I always forget about the surplus of high-level, experienced talent evaluators on this board though.

132 snaps in the Mac.. should we be jumping up and down?

$3 mill on Houser... Wow, the $ being spent at this point is insanity. I'm sure he will be good, but Luke didn't sniff $3 mill

Bad news for the doomers: Thomison's PFF DL grades were among the best in the country -- 76.2 PFF grade overall, 73.8 run defense grade and 75.3 pass-rush grade.

Real question -- do the insiders know why he only played 132 snaps?

Who are "the insiders"? How many snaps did Jeremiah Warren take? A: 97 How many snaps did Curt Neal play? A: 253 How many snaps did Eli Coenan play? A: 222 How many snaps did Tomiwa Durojaiye play? A: 237 Only McCollum played more than 300 snaps and his PFF was 67. The reason those guys aren't in Champaign is that none of them are regular 50 snaps per game players. If you went to any games last year, it was really obvious our DL got pushed around. Truthfully, I think the coaching staff is trying to upgrade. The 56th ranked Defense in D-1 next year may or may not get us 6 wins (depending on schedule). Sorry, just not seeing what is happening on the D-Line as a negative like some others.

He was a lb as a recruit so I would imagine he’s still raw.

I just hope they get stronger on the line. I was tired of seeing them get driven off the line of scrimmage so often.

I’d rather hear that the DL is apparently weak and then plays well then hearing for two years the strength of our team was the OL and they struggled badly!!!

lol the problem with this is now that we’ve seen Indinia climb out of a nuclear waste dump to the top of CBB and probable NC in two years, our obvious goal of a Natty seems WAY closer than it should.

Maybe Mendoza is the next Brady and maybe Cig is the next Belichick, but it’s way more likely that they’ve hit the Mega Million after having it roll over to 1.9 billion, and they chose the lump sum over the annual payments.
Absolute lightning striking twice in the same tree.

So your implying that schools like Tulane, Memphis, North Texas, UTSA and others dont have a few younger talented players that Brett thinks can play for Illinois but you disagree? I think you are wrong.

#597
Were they caught off guard by some transfers? Yes. So are all programs. But. Brett and staff KNOW WHAT THEY DOING.

Relax and Go Illini.

But that is typical of fans. A coach can never satisfy the unrealistic expectations of certain fans. Be happy you are not one of those fans. I certainly am.
