Well, at least as a Big Ten school, we will forever be able to rub it in the faces of those annoying "SEC is the best conference in football" idiots(their teams' fans, ESPN, etc) by always being able to remind them that our conference's literally worst team in history, record-wise, won the Natty and none of their teams even made it to the game.

Still hate Indiana...but if THEY can do it...

What an incredible season. What an unbelievble story. All made possible by NIL and the new transfer rules.

There is a movie Hoosiers and now another Hoosier Movie on the way. Our turn in 2026-27. Bring back the Chief.

What do you mean most improbable? They have the best coach, best player and about 10th highest payroll. If you mean their history is bad that’s true but that under a different set of rules. Indiana is a football powerhouse not an improbable Cinderella.

Personal opinion. But I found Cignetti rather insufferable last year and even earlier this year.

He does seem to have taken note a little bit and toned down the inflammatory stuff. I give him credit - for me Atleast, it’s a much easier listen and just more respect.
Agree. Cignetti has grown on me. Seems like an OK guy. Never liked IU because of Knight and Sampscum and their support of those asshats but got nothing against them otherwise. Glad the B1G won.

despite this win, IU still is the losingest team in FBS division 1 with northwestern and Rutgers right behind them. that being said, them winning a natty before us in the CFP era hurts. hell of a job by cignetti, have never seen a turnaround like this before

I remember 20 years ago obsessively playing NCAA Football 2K3 on PS2 and winning national championships with the weirdest unlikeliest teams possible. Colorado State national title? Yes. A natty for Bowling Green? Why not. This will always feel like some version of that to me. Like somehow we’re all trapped in the Xbox fantasy of some random middle schooler in Terre Haute.

This and Leicester City I think won't ever be topped.
That was my first thought of improbable as well, and is the standard bearer of improbable. They had to go on a crazy run at the end of 14/15 season just to avoid relegation, and then win the whole thing the next year.

What IU did is a great story, the new portal system made this slightly less improbable, especially given the money resources of IU. Just shows what money and the right coach can do in the Wild West of the new college game.

People seem to be thinking in a pre-NIL mindset. If Boston College spent enough money, they can win a national title too. It doesn't take away the achievement, but historical records no longer mean anything. It's all about how much you spend. There's a reason BYU and Vanderbilt are all the sudden top 15 in both football and basketball.
