CFP Games

Finding it really hard to make any argument other than Indiana. I mean the team seriously just went 16-0 and handily beat almost every team they played (including an average of 25 points in the CFP). The Ohio State team did not even make the conference championship game after losing to Michigan. Michigan went 15-0 when they went on to win the title, but they only had to win two games in the CFP. For that reason, I have to think the order would be: IU, Michigan and then Ohio State. Hard to say a team is the best of the three when they had two losses during the season.
I agree. Heck OSU last year had nutbags wanting to fire Day before the CFP started.

IU is nowhere near the most talented of the 3 but team is more than just pure talent. That helps of course. But IU is insanely fundamentally sound. Perhaps the best pure tackling team I've ever seen. The first guy stops the ball like 95% of the time it seems. They were getting gashed some in the 2nd half last night but that was a rarity.

They weren't necessarily great at any one thing. Just real good at everything. Offense defense & special teams.

14.1% Post Game Win Expectancy for Indiana. Dominated in the trenches. 6.5 Yards Per Play for Miami to just 4.6 for Indiana.

But Indiana won how they won games all season.

Winning the turnover battle (1-0), not making mistakes (Miami had 7 penalties for 60 yards to just 5 penalties for 38 yards), and winning on special teams (0-1 on field goals for Miami, 2-2 for Indiana, along with the huge blocked punt touchdown for Indiana).

Still as true today as ever...big games come down to special teams, and turnovers. Indiana won both of those tonight, and presto, there's your national champion.

Miami star Mark Fletcher takes a swing at IU player after the game.
I'm sure he was just trying to hold him...

If true, I’m glad he got punched. Shoulda been knocked out

Special teams makes up 1/4 of plays. Indiana has fantastic special teams. We have average special teams. IU game might have been closer without the blocked punt. OSU game very different without punter kneeling to pick up low snap. Nothing against Bret but Cignetti has IU playing at completely different level.

Frustrating to be passed by IU but happy to see somebody beside GA and Bama win the national title.

SEC fans have to be going crazy after not even making the championship game past 3 years and having B10 win each year. Gets harder and harder for SEC to claim they deserve more slots. They might want to change their minds about B10 proposal to guarantee 4 slots.

Idk. That kid has pretty much always been lauded as an awesome dude, and I remember the father story being tragic.

Going out of his way to speak to Mendoza last night too. I have a tendency to believe people like that.

Maybe I just lean more positive in trying to see the good in people though - for better or worse

Yeah on the one hand all of this, but on the other hand Tucker lost his mother to cancer in 2024 so I am also a little skeptical he, of all people, would be making light of a dead parent.

Ya. I’m telling you i don’t see why someone would lie and make that up. Nor believe he punched him for just no reason at all lol.

But, I wasn’t there. So who knows. Maybe he just did it for funsies 🤷‍♂️

I can 100% see why someone would make that up, and the reactions of people to it demonstrate it. He went from people being disgusted with him, to being sympathetic, instantly. I have no idea if he's making it up, but if he is, the reason is obvious.

All fair and good points.

I just meant in the moment, why would you do that - not so much damage control after the fact. Nor has he said anything himself I’ve seen.

We’ll never know. So I was probably wrong to give an opinion on it either way. Just my gut reaction I guess
