Pitino to Providence? Father or Son? Rick is a born and bred New Yorker, would be strange to see him jump somewhere that's at best lateral.

Mick Cronin is a complainer and a whiner of the highest magnitude, but he also has a FF, not many coaches can say that.

It's genuinely baffling to me that a program as storied as UCLA has a coach who seems to hate it there and is hated by basically everyone, but he continues to be employed.
UCLA benefitted for decades from paying players under the table.

Now that it's an open talent market they're middle of the pack B10, just with a great location.

based on what I'm hearing from some connected boosters here , Pope is gone after this season ........
Boosters there are not fond of mediocrity.....use to getting more bang for their buck

Just wanted to see the reaction in here. Obviously not true
Pretty sure his new contract prohibits it? Josh wanted things, like this, to longer be a discussion point. See bolded below and move on:

"
Illinois head coach Brad Underwood agreed to a six-year contract extension on May 13, 2025, keeping him with the Fighting Illini through the 2030-31 season. The deal, which includes a starting salary of $4.4 million, was designed to lock in the coach following five consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and an Elite Eight run.
Contract Extension Details.

  • Term: Valid through the 2030-31 season.
  • Compensation: The contract features an initial $4.4 million annual salary with significant, increasing annual retention bonuses, according to the 247Sports article.
  • Approval: The deal was pending formal approval from the University of Illinois Board of Trustees at their meeting on May 22, 2025, per The Daily Illini.
  • Clauses: The agreement includes a non-compete clause intended to prevent him from leaving for another NCAA position.
P.s.....feel free to cut and paste that to shut their discussion down their discussion, if it bothers you. It's one less thing to discuss in the off-season, which is what effects us most.

Is Scheyer a good coach?
Seems they have a dozen 5-star players on their team every year.
I'd think he'd win an NC every couple years if he was that good.

They feed him an incredible roster every year, but he's done well. He's got some good wins and a FF. They could do a lot worse.
I would imagine It's a lot harder to build it than maintain it, but that said, his trajectory has been good, and following a legend is no small ask either.

KSU can't even afford to fire Tang

KSU can't even afford to fire Tang
and to think his name was brought up often a couple years ago as the next hot thing
Going to that Wikipedia page, what a weird tenure Weber had there.

On the one hand, won two conference titles (KSU's only two titles since 1977) and went to an Elite Eight. On the other hand, lost a 4v13 game in the first round both of those conference title seasons, that Elite Eight was the only tournament games he ever won (lucked into 16 seed UMBC then lost to Loyola), and wound up 82-98 in the Big XII overall.

Frustrating to analyze, to the last.

I think Tang is a solid coach, I also think KSU is a bad job.

Isn’t it like 18 mil left they’d have to pay? Does Providence have the money to fire Kim? I’ve heard they’ve put it together and he’s done unless he wins the conference tourney. Also any truth to the rumors about Will Wade jumping from NC State already?

In a lot of ways, there are similarities to Weber’s K-State tenure and his time at Illinois. Some really good highs, but the overall trajectory went down after the first couple of years and the impact of his predecessors wore off.

the odds of either Brad Underwood or Bret Bielema leaving are really really small . seriously .

not impossible, just very very unlikely

we are blessed to have two coaches that are both in their prime and both WANT to stay here until retirement
If Brad were to leave, I honestly think it would be NBA.
