Some AD is going to want Geoff and his Euro connections and Tyler follows him there.

A lot really depends on personnel. Bruce's system takes smart players who can read defense. Brad runs simpler schemes but he is versatile. Bruce is definitely a better defense coach IMO.
I don't agree with either sentiment here.

This year's team is WILDLY dependent on reading Ds.

Bruce's last 5 years his teams were 28th in def efficiency. Brad's 38th his last 5...which is heavily impacted by the e8 '24 team being 80th in D.

So I guess the def efficiency more or less proves my point on defense. Bruce did have a pretty active defense system. The trap defense of the 2025 team was a beauty. Completely destroyed Chris Paul and lots of good guards. I never said Brad's players don't read defense and I think they are doing pretty well this year. However, Brad said himself that their main philosophy is to hunt mismatches. Personally I like it because it's a simple but effective method. Not every players are good reading defense but it's not hard to tell when youn see a mismatch. Either way, you need the personnel though.

Are we really so sure Bruce is the superior Xs and Os coach?

Weber was exclusively man to man and motion offense. 04 and 05 were top 10 offenses then a lot of years of hot garbage. D was mostly good, but it seems like he gets more credit for top 40 Ds at IL and KSU than BU gets here.

We've seen Underwood's teams have top 10 offenses with 3 distinctly different styles and generally as good in def efficiency.
Bruce was overrated for X&Os and defense. If he was so good, why were we chucking up a contested 3 at the end of the 35 (yes 35) second shot clock? Using the 35 seconds also made his defense look better. Leave out the 2005 group.

IMHO of course, but I am right.

If he hasn’t been out on his own as a HC then the answer is no from my perspective …

Illinois isn’t a place where you get your first HC job …

Tyler wants to be assistant then that’s fine … But I want no part of the deal Auburn & Houston got themselves into …
I agree about not wanting to give Tyler a nepo job but if Brad retired after this year I'd legitimately want to consider Luke Murray to replace him.

Tyler should try and land a mid-major coaching job after this year. Maybe a school like Illinois State or even Loyola. He needs to hire his own assistants and get the feel for being a head coach. If he does a great job then maybe he can replace Brad in around 5-7 years when Brad is read to retire.

I would think that it is a great feeling to be coaching with your dad. He should cherish the moments & do it a while longer.

I think Tang is a solid coach, I also think KSU is a bad job.

I don’t see evidence that Tang is a solid coach. He had a great start at Kstate thanks to a great guard. Since then it’s been bad. He’s had NIL money the last two years and spent it poorly. He’s has chased after recruits he had no shot at instead of being realistic. He doesn’t know how to construct a roster where the pieces fit. He’s paid a lot to bring in a new assistant to install an offense but it hasn’t worked. His ridiculous contract is a poorly timed disaster. Kstate needs to give the new football coach all the resources they can in his first years so he can start off well and paying $18M to make Tang go away doesn’t fit that plan.

K State is not poaching Brad … No need for those rumors to even start …

Fired "for cause". We'll see how that plays out.
