Still doesn’t sell this hire for me and I’m a “trust Brett” guy 99% of the time.We were essentially a 5 man front for years.
Nose, two tackles, two OLB(edges).
You’ll most likely see a Tackle and two ends now.

Don't we need a safety coach? Would think Tim H would be perfect for that...unless they still go after Kerry Cooks?I like that we’ve added 2 coaches with head coaching experience. If Hauck can add his brother to the staff as an analyst or sometime of role that would also be good. The RB hire needs to be a big time recruiter
Notre Dame has a really good young DB’s coach. Maybe we should look into him. Even has a history with Coach B!Who else would call the plays?
Not a panic, plan B.I’m with you. I’d feel better if this was the plan all along. If the Seattle coach really backed out today and we already have Hauck lined up that feels a bit more like panic. Maybe it’s a good plan B and Bret found out his first choice bailed much earlier.
Either way I’m hoping he’s a success.
Apparently he thought his staff the scheme. To be fair, while he does have HC experience, Hauck also doesn't have any defensive coordinator experience.
Well idk maybe a Higher power, not a criticism though, I’d think a head coach would know how a defense works!Who else would call the plays?

Right now, I feel like Cooks coming is very unlikely and the lawfirm of Hauck & Hauck is very likely.I really like that scenario a lot. Get cooks and bring hauck in as an analyst or assistant safeties coach. Bobby Hauck was only making 265k as a head coach at Montana. I’m sure we can easily match whatever his brother was getting paid.
I just wonder how the kids are going to feel being coached by a 60+ y.o. white guy from Montana. I really hope this works out, but this is the first cultural reference that comes to mind. I hope someone comes and shows me how wrong I was in the fall.

I believe his defense will be more aggressive than what we’ve seen last few years

And on paper Hauck’s resume probably looks better up and until 2 years ago.Dude is younger than Cignetti.

Yeah - that's a good call, and this was just my initial reaction. He obviously gets to fill out his staff and hopefully that goes really well and helps balance it out. That said, for me, it's hard to ignore the change from a 37 y.o. former B1G player from FL to a 61 y.o. guy from Montana. I also fully acknowledge that Ahen was not getting it done so I'm not saying it was working under him or he is the model that we should be emulating.Dude is younger than Cignetti.
Is he older or whiter than Cignetti?I just wonder how the kids are going to feel being coached by a 60+ y.o. white guy from Montana. I really hope this works out, but this is the first cultural reference that comes to mind. I hope someone comes and shows me how wrong I was in the fall.
