I actually agree with missing the free throw here... the odds of getting a full-court pass where the clock doesn't run to hit a 3 is much greater than a one-handed heave from full court. Time & score, though, when Duke did it against Butler in the title game, there was 3.6 left, and Hayward almost had it.

That said, if your players aren't trained in the situation enough to not run up to the shooter, then you're not capable of pulling if off.
I am glad you talked about this. Missing the free throw with that little time left is the correct play. By the time the team that is behind secures the rebound the only thing they have time for is a full-court heave.

Fouling a guy 85 feet from the basket is, uh, suboptimal.

Unbelievable end to regulation in Oregon State game. Beavers up by 3 with 4 seconds left and instead of fouling, they let San Diego roll the ball up court and then hit a 3. Please, please fire Tinkle. At least Beavers won in OT.
Yeah, but he did beat Loyola with 2-3 zone at a time…when the mere mention/suggestion of it by an Illini fan on loyalty would nearly get you blacklisted. 😂

Dang, if I knew all I had to do was ask for it on Illinois Loyalty, I would have done it a long while ago. Wayne Tinkle finally let go.

A big one this weekend would be Gonzaga @ St Mary’s.

St Mary’s will be playing for a conference title:

That crazy high school in the video reminds you of Mirk fouling the UCLA player just before half.

I’ll bet the Southern Oregon message board was LIT!

I am kinda torn on this Michigan State/Purdue game. For argument’s sake, let’s say MSU wins at Indiana and loses at Michigan. I think the Hoosiers are in full crater mode.

Since MSU owns the tiebreaker with us, don’t we want them to lose at Mackey tonight? Am I looking at this incorrectly?

Oh hey, #11 Virginia actually plays someone this weekend.

The likes of Virginia, Vanderbilt, Indiana make me want to vomit with them feasting on cupcakes. Indiana and Vanderfraud have since been exposed. Hope to see Duke wipe the floor with Virginia

Josh Dix and Owen Freeman robbed Creighton in the portal. Never thought spending huge on 2 players on a bad Iowa team that didn't play any defense was smart. Creighton is likely to finish below .500

Am I rooting for Purdue tonight for any particular bracketing purposes? Because I really don't want to be forced to cheer for Sparty under any circumstances.

Something I appreciate about NBCSN is the women's game was on but it was time for Purdue Michigan State to start and they just switched over immediately.

What benefits Illinois the most tonight: a Purdue win, or a Michigan St. win?
