I mean... they did lose to Minnesota? And to Wisconsin by 21? (and should've to Rutgers; needed an abysmal choke job)
At least our blowout loss was to the title favorite.
You're the same guy who said we'll be a 4 seed lol.
To expand on this, here are all common opponents between Michigan State and Illinois during conf play (needs to be same road/home scenario)
@Penn State: Illinois won by 8; Michigan State won by 4 (also trailed at halftime).
@Nebraska: Illinois won by 9; Michigan State lost by 2.
Home Northwestern: Illinois won by 40; Michigan State won by 10 (and trailed at halftime)
Home Indiana: Illinois won by 20; Michigan State won by 21
Home Maryland: Michigan State won by 43; Illinois won by 19 (11-3 run I believe after the scrubs came in, but I'll allow it)
Home Michigan: Illinois lost by 14; Michigan State lost by 12
@Purdue: Illinois won by 6; Michigan State won by 2
For the entire body of work, I'm not sure what MSU has done that Illinois hasn't? I mean, there's an extra loss in there @Nebraska, game we won. We're also pretty likely to be seeded higher.
Pretty much 99% of the time when you see comments claiming "so and so team is all so great, and we aren't" -- it's almost
never taking into account that team's own individual flaws.
