I hope we keep Mirk, the twins, Jake, and hopefully Andre and Petro for a pay cut and BU and his staff do what they do and someome pops. I do feel Petro offers something we lack now and with a season and more opporunity to mesh and pay off much like Ben this year. Mihailo is behind 2 od thw top 20 guards in the NCAA. I believ3e he is a good player and worth a spot at the right price.

Illinois is pushing harder for Jaxon Davis and that is one to watch. I do think backing off of him earlier set them back some. He liked Illinois a lot early on. Meanstreets guys aren't Underwood fans, so that's a little bit of an obstacle, but Davis doesn't really listen to them that much

In the 2026 class, they aren't ready to add anyone yet. Waiting to see who stays, who goes, and what the portal and international markets looks like.

Also, keep a close eye on the coaching carousel. Potential transfers and class of 2026 signees opting out.

Petrovic is leaning towards leaving. We'll see. To stay, he would have to take a pay cut.
Nice to see you back, thanks for the info

He says that he's waiting for a blue-blood offer. Whether that's mainly for self validation or that he truly desires to play at Duke, Kentucky etal., who knows.

I am a little surprised they would want Petrovic back even discounted.

I like Davis a lot and hope we can land him. The type of guard that kills us all the time.
Agreed. I don't see them having back. Both camps are better off moving on. Illini have the biggest bargain in college basketball with Wagler. Enjoy the next month with him in an Illini uni.

He's a terrible defender and gives little to no value off ball......which is going to happen here. When Kylan went down.....they used Wagler and then Mirk...which spoke volumes about Petro's place in the pecking order. Doubt he wants to be a 24 year old college pine rider next season. I think he will be able to put up solid #s as a primary ball handler at another school. There's no questioning his ability to break down defenders off the dribble.

I am all in and want Davis without reservation. Last year I wouldn't have disagreed at all w/your thoughts on Petro as I had nearly the exact same thoughts about Ben last year. I was among those that were incredibly frustrated by his overall performance last year and was very skeptical about him coming back for this season.

We've seen that bringing Ben back this year was clearly the right move (what do I know anyway??).

Obviously those are two different situations with Ben getting lots of PT last year and Petro getting very little this year. Another big difference, however is Ben got here much earlier in the offseason than Petro. I think we've seen on our team and throughout CBB that there is typically a big jump in year 2 - rather that's 18 y.o. freshman to 19 y.o. sophomore, or a transfer getting a full season and offseason under his belt to better acclimate to the new program.

My $.02 is I would welcome Petro back at the right (lower) price and if he has the right attitude.

I’m interested in how much last nights game and our other losses this season will influence next years recruiting. IMO we seem to lack the overall strength and athleticism to compete to take the next step and compete with the top tier of teams.

Just my opinion and not a knock on Fletch.

It’s already crazy transfer rumor season. One I just heard: both DGL and Sarr will be Illini next season. Yeesh.

I don't really even think he needs to transfer down a level. He just isn't a fit for what Brad and co want to do on the floor this year.

He doesn't have positional size, isn't a knockdown spot up shooter, and they want to put the ball in Wagler or Mirkovic's hands and hunt matchups.

Petrovic just didn't really play like an off ball guard but I think he would probably be fine playing at the power conference level for a team running a more traditional offense or simply one that doesn't have Wagler, Mirkovic, Boswell, and Stojakovic.

He would probably be a good get for a team like Minnesota or something in the portal.
We need more athleticism and strength. Our bigs are getting pushed around unfortunately. Getting a big body C who can rim protect should be number 1 in the offseason. A quick PG who can dribble drive and dish is also needed. Fill in with a couple of shooters at the SG and a couple of slashers at the wing. We need 10 quality players next year as we have seen that playing 7-8 guys over the entire B1G season does not work. We need depth and quality players. Playing 10 guys double digit minutes over the entire season is what we need

If anyone is interested in the highlights of Mason Martin and Cole Kelly winning a regional title over Ray J Dennis' alma mater.

I’m cool with adding high school shooters, but we better add some strength and athleticism through the portal or we aren’t going to get where we want to be
