Just for fun, but here is your wall of shame for the BTT ... teams who have gone home on the first day since 2015 (the first year the BTT began as early as Wednesday due to conference expansion).

Rutgers - 2015, 2016, 2019, 2024, 2025
Nebraska - 2015, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023
Minnesota - 2016, 2018, 2022, 2025
Ohio State - 2017, 2025
Northwestern - 2019, 2021
Penn State - 2026
Oregon - 2026
Michigan - 2024
Wisconsin - 2023
Illinois - 2018

If we keep the Wednesday threshold (this is the first year it has ever begun on Tuesday), the following teams all risk joining the club or adding another year by their names:

Maryland or Iowa
USC or Washington
Indiana or Northwestern
Rutgers or Minnesota

And one last bit of fun, all-time records by each team in the BTT since 1998:

Michigan State: 36-21 (.632)
Ohio State: 34-20 (.630)
Illinois: 35-23 (.603)
Wisconsin: 35-24 (.571)
Michigan: 28-22 (.560)
Iowa: 23-24 (.489)
Purdue: 21-25 (.457)
Penn State: 21-26 (.447)
Minnesota: 19-25 (.432)
Indiana: 17-27 (.386)
Maryland: 6-10 (.375)
Rutgers: 5-10 (.333)
Nebraska: 6-13 (.316)
Northwestern: 11-28 (.282)

USC: 1-1 (.500)
Oregon: 1-1 (.500)
Washington: 0-0 (.500) [didn't make it last year]
UCLA: 0-1 (.000)

Given how often the BTT has been in Indy, I find Indiana's putrid record pretty hilarious, haha. Also, it's impressive that we still have such a good record in the BTT (winning 2 in the last 5 years helps!), but it's even more impressive when you consider that we were so bad in it from 2011 to 2019, with a record of 5-9 (.357). It's also TRULY amazing just how well we played in the 7 Big Ten Tournaments from its inception in 1998 through 2005.

- 16-8 (.667) overall record
- 13-4 (.765) record in Chicago, specifically
- 2 BTT championships
- 5 BTT championship appearances in 7 years
- 7 BTT semifinals appearances in 7 years

Let's get back to owning the BTT, especially when it's in Chicago!!
LOL@INDIANA. Can you imagine walking up to Bobby Knight in the 80s and telling him that if they played a bracket style tournament in the B10 to determine a champion each season that it would be 29 years and counting and Indiana still wouldn't win a banner and be in the finals only once? Or telling their fanbase that?

Hell, I remember Indiana fans when the BTT was first instituted and all the smack they were talking about how they were going to own it, hahaha. Good times.

Bobby Knight hated the BIG tournament, or any post season conference tournament.

Regardless of the results this season, BYU's coach is an absolute clown and if BYU is smart, they'll look to trade up as soon as possible. BYU look to me like they play a roll-the-ball-out-there-and-see-what-happens (mostly to Dybantsa) offense, and they don't look like they've been coached at all on how and when to help on the other end. They should be able to do a lot better than this guy with the amount of money they have to spend.

With how weak the bubble is, all Indiana had to do was beat NW twice down the stretch.

But the Kitties beat them in Bloomington and tonight. Brutal. And hilarious! 😂
Does Texas really deserve to be in the tourney? 18 wins vs 14 loses. I guess if the bubble is weak, you can make the argument, but 4 over .500 doesn't feel like a tourney team record

usc again snatches defeat from the jaws of victory with their 9th (9th ?) straight loss....not a good result now
with a record of 18-14.................

What say ye............do they go NCAA or NIT ?....................I vote.........................................................NIT..........I really really do.............
8 straight losses...................

The back half of the Big East is bad. DePaul has scored 4 points in 6 minutes of the second half and trails by just 5.

UW woke up and claimed a win. They remain capable of a run. I don’t think they will do one however.

IU losing is comedy, but all it does is put a B1G bid into play and open a door for the SEC. Which is never a good thing.

There was some article I recall 2 years ago when NC State won 5 games in 5 days to win the ACC tourney that noted how insane that feat was because bye teams facing team that played the prior day had like a 90+% winning percentage over the prior 10 years in ACC play (now, the bye teams are pretty much always the better team so take that into consideration as well, but 92% is very high... also this was just ACC so data was limited to that).
The ACC was only eight teams back then, so they only had to win three games (in three days) to win the tournament. However, two of those three teams were #5 North Carolina (Jordan, Perkins) and #2 Virgina (Ralph Sampson). Incidentally, they beat Virginia again in the Elite Eight after #6 UNLV in the second round, all on the way to knocking off #1 Houston in the final. I wonder how many times a team has went on an upset run like that over the last month of a season?

Think they're talking about the more recent run:

So I looked into it for the B10 based on change in format and definitely a lot closer, where it's closer to the team on the bye being a 2:1 favorite over the team who played the night before:

Record for teams coming off a bye vs teams that played the night before (Overall: 76-40, 0.655WP)
18 Team: (1-1: 0.500WP)
2026: 1-1 (in progress)

14 Team: (39-21: 0.650WP)
2025: 5-1
2024: 5-1
2023: 3-3
2022: 2-4
2021: 5-1
2020:COVID
2019: 4-2
2018: 3-3
2017: 4-2
2016: 3-3
2015: 5-1

12 Team: (11-1: 0.917WP)
2014: 3-1
2013: 4-0
2012: 4-0

11 Team: (25-17: 0.595WP)
2011: 1-2
2010: 2-1
2009: 3-0
2008: 1-2
2007: 2-1
2006: 2-1
2005: 2-1
2004: 3-0
2003: 1-2
2002: 2-1
2001: 1-2
2000: 1-2
1999: 2-1
1998: 2-1

Ok, well I didn't finish 6-0 thru the first 6 games (Thanks Minnesota) but I'll take 5-1. My thoughts on the games today:

Iowa over OSU
Wisconsin over Washington
Purdue over Northwestern
UCLA over Minnesota Rutgers

Picking against OSU in the BTT is generally unwise as they have had a lot of historical success in these tournaments, and I also think they have a better team than Iowa this year. But gut feel is Iowa comes out hot and OSU has to try playing catch up for much of the game. I've got Iowa holding on by the skin of their teeth.

The other 3 games I have as pure chalk. I have a hard time seeing the dog win any of those even though UCLA away from LA and Purdue are both hard to trust right now. Wisconsin though should do Wisconsin BTT things to Washington. I'd be surprised if this wasn't a double digit win for them.

Anybody else talk themself into Washington over Wisconsin today?

Call me crazy but I'm not so sure that the talent level is very different between the 2 teams. (

Be interesting to see if Winter plays... Wisconsin could be vulnerable if they get some front court foul trouble. Steinbach could apply some pressure.

Wisconsin beat UW pretty bad the last outing but when you have a bench player go nuclear and hit 9 3s...
