Props to Alabama. They get one of their top players ARRESTED in the days leading up to the tournament. Earlier in the season, their team is decimated by injuries. Yet it looks like they're headed to the S16.
The score of that game might be more shocking than Iowa winning entirely. What a brutal way to end a season. Insane.Alabama / Texas Tech is not a fun watch.
No they don't. They would have to play us or Houston to get there.
I think this narrative is being over blown. They had TWO starters in Lowe and Quaintance not play the whole year.Kentucky: All that NIL and that's the roster Pope constructed.

No they don't. They have a clearer path to the Elite 8 but not the Final 4. If they win they have to face a 2 or 3 seed or for that matter a seed higher than their seed. The clearer path belongs to the team that wins between us and Houston.By seeds they do.
Nebraska gets the #9 then either #3/#2.
Illinois gets the #2, then either the #4/#9.
Nebraska would play max of 12 (total seed lines) or 11.
Illinois would get 11 or 6.
Lower number is the tougher path.
Announcers just said 31 is the biggest defeat for a 4/5 matchup.
They lost their last 3 games of the season before the tournament. It's like when a player gets a sprained ankle during the middle of a game and it playing off of adrenaline for the rest of that game then the next game they aren't as effective or have to miss a couple of games. That's how TT was for those first few games after Toppin got hurt but once things settled down the effect of that injury in those last 3 games plus this one tonight start to show up.How on earth does TTU look this bad?
Meh, they have the beat the same Houston team if we get taken out. Won't happen. The only thing that stands in the way of Houston absolutely waltzing their way to Indy is us.This tournament, Nebraska has a clearer path to the F4 than we do.
Welp, they managed to get it down to 25.Announcers just said 31 is the biggest defeat for a 4/5 matchup.
Plus they played Duke last year, Arkansas and Iowa State two years ago, Texas three years ago, Houston 4 years ago, and Arizona 5 years ago.Illinois has played 9 games this year against half of the Sweet 16 field.
Nebraska x 2
Purdue
Michigan State

With UConn/UCLA and Bama/Texas Tech rounding out Sunday night, we’ve technically played 11 games against the final 18 teams.
Say what you will about our record in close games… we’re certainly battle tested.
They earned it. If anything, that taunt goes to Todd Golden as he thoroughly enjoys doing the gator chomp every chance he gets. That was one entertaining game by Iowa even if they are our rival and we don't like themI dunno about this... Huge win, but Florida is coming off a natty. Just walk off.

Houston is the nightmare gauntlet and they were always going to be the bigger nightmare than Florida. Houston is our Elite 8 matchup just like UCONN two years agoFinally, though, a real upset in the 2nd round. Yes, it was Iowa, but that was about a 20% chance of happening. Not quite the High Point (15%) win, but last year was so chalky and top heavy I was starting to get concerned that the best teams were just not going to be at risk of being upset anymore.
Granted, there is still clearly a top tier of 3 teams, and that just cemented it.
On the plus side, Illinois' path to the championship is no longer quite the nightmare gauntlet it looked like it might be (6th best team with a chance to have to go through 4 of the 5 teams ahead of them to win it).
It's because of the TV decisionmakers. They decided that Kansas-St John's needed to be a CBS nationally televised game b/c it would garner more viewers than any of the other matchups regardless of location. 2nd game from San Diego was 30 mins after the KU-St Johns ending...that simplewhy is the game in Tampa tipping at 10:10pm while the sun is still up here in California and the game in San Diego is 7 minutes from being complete?
None... Interesting...No chance Iowa beats Florida.

For those who celebrate!Happy Kentucky elimination day!
I mean playing Iowa + Illinois or Iowa + Houston is an easier path than playing Houston + Nebraska. Iowa is clearly the worst team out of the four and Nebraska is obviously guaranteed to play them. So I would agree they have the easier path.No they don't. They would have to play us or Houston to get there.
