Worst kept secret in the conference.
Yeah since we dont run a classic offense where a traditional point guard is needed its much less of an issue, so long as they can handle the ball.Keaton isn’t a point guard either
Excuse my ignorance but which part is the worst kept secret? That we have a shot (which I get because of his family) or that he’s going bag hunting?Worst kept secret in the conference.
Neither is Rogers and Mirk. Brad doesn’t seem to care.Keaton isn’t a point guard either
What people will claim you said if he goes elsewhereBlackwell: Not a lock by any means. Those teams mentioned in the tweet are all accurate. But dad being a basketball alum and being at the final 4 with the Illinois fans certainly didn’t hurt our chances.
Yeah, we've been down this road before. Was the three-point offense bailed out by stoj or was it doing worse because you had your 6th/7th man starting (Davis) because your preseason starter shot 20% from three on a lot of open looks...I get the sentiment here is around the point of "ROI".
But, he was a lot more than a 6th man curveball in the offense - that's wildly selling short what he meant to us in this final four run. He played starters minutes (3rd most in Iowa game, 3rd most in the UCONN game, tied for 4th-most with Tomi in Houston game, 3rd most in VCU game). And just placing his value in the offense, is ignoring the run he had defensively.
And, as was pointed out before the tournament even began. It truly depends on the style of play we roll with. We shot a lot less threes this tournament, and (huge GASP!), he was flippin' awesome. When he was 6th man this tournament, and as you said, "at his best" - we actually weren't a 3-point centric offense.
Is he worth the money?Blackwell: Not a lock by any means. Those teams mentioned in the tweet are all accurate. But dad being a basketball alum and being at the final 4 with the Illinois fans certainly didn’t hurt our chances.
I thought the 1 million offer was the one he signed with us right before leaving for Michigan, but i could be remembering it wrongWe will see if he gets it, but this is why it was silly, even at the time, that folks were saying $1 million for Morez was an overpay by UM.
I would argue that there were circumstances for all four you mentioned that did impact their game. The fact that we are coming off of a Final Four with three of those guys playing a huge role in our success does have some value. There are so many other factors that come into play when you look at Tomi and Andrej, such as knowing the system, coaches knowing how to coach them individually, and the trust factor. And can you guarantee you can get the same value out of the portal? This is, of course, not knowing what they are asking.Yeah, we've been down this road before. Strictly from a resource allocation perspective though the staff and team were bailed out by Wagler & Mirk. The staff absolutely should get credit for those two, but it definitely papered over overall inconsistent years from Tomi, Stoj & Boswell and a flop by Petro.
You trust the staff and it ain't my money, but I'd still question paying Stoj & Tomi for their career max outcomes if it means losing out on someone more consistent or a better 'fit'.
ummm UConn knows how to guard it telling us all, need to make a few more adjustments.Tyler underwood has seriously figured some things out offensively…. If we could surround a group of key returners around with some knockdown shooters (think Alfonso Plummer) I don’t know how anyone guards it.

I’ll chime in here as well … The talk in Indy was that Blackwell is VERY interested in coming here …
The teams mentioned are legit but from someone who’d know and I’ll let you all figure out who said this …
“He ain’t leaving the Big Ten and it’d be pretty f’ing awesome to see him in the Orange and Blue …”

Kind of a cross thread post, but Michigan and Duke coaches are both rumored to be drawing interest from NBA teams.Blackwell: Not a lock by any means.
